if ssd, make an ext4 partition, it will TRIM the data automatically before filesystem creation
somiaj 2017-01-29 04:46:03
seems like an intersting request, why would you want to stop at 5% left? dd can be controled to do that, but you have to manually compute/state when to stop.
kupi 2017-01-29 04:49:08
hello
kupi 2017-01-29 04:49:23
hi
somiaj 2017-01-29 04:49:34
hi
kupi 2017-01-29 04:49:53
where can I find the current x32 installer?
kupi 2017-01-29 04:50:09
all I could find is this outdated site
kupi 2017-01-29 04:50:10
http://debian-x32.org/
kupi 2017-01-29 04:50:21
which tells me now it's done by Debian
somiaj 2017-01-29 04:50:29
what do you mean by x32 installer? Do you mean i386 (32bit) or some other port?
kupi 2017-01-29 04:50:48
https://wiki.debian.org/X32Port
kupi 2017-01-29 04:50:54
I mean this
DexterF 2017-01-29 04:53:35
hi.
DexterF 2017-01-29 04:54:01
having a hard time if a mdadm raid1 on deb8 is ok or not: here is partitons: http://paste.debian.net/911298/
somiaj 2017-01-29 04:54:31
kupi: ahh thanks. I'm not sure how to deal with unoffical ports, and if the wiki is outdated not sure what is the best suggestion.
DexterF 2017-01-29 04:55:07
sdi and sdh form a 2 device raid1, then it has partitions md2p[n]. so far, so good. /proc/mdstat says both raids are ok, the raid1 has [UU] status
kupi 2017-01-29 04:55:39
>Update: the contents of this site is stale, with no updates since jessie. Current work is done in Debian proper, in unstable.
DexterF 2017-01-29 04:56:33
but: as one can see, sdi has partitions listed, while it should be only one big partiton for type RAID. further, mdadm -E /dev/sdi does not show raid info: http://paste.debian.net/911301/
jklmnop1 2017-01-29 04:57:24
enoch85: if still needing to write zeros to all but wherever remaining 5%, instead of dd if that'd b your choice otherwise, try check out dcfldd or dc3dd instead. dd but with some enhancements..
DexterF 2017-01-29 04:57:28
so what does that tell about the state of that raid1 now? is it ok?
somiaj 2017-01-29 04:58:06
kupi: maybe this will help https://www.ports.debian.org/
kupi 2017-01-29 04:59:07
somiaj: thanks but I have already seen this and there is no installer
somiaj 2017-01-29 05:01:34
kupi: irc.oftc.net may have a channel for this unoffical port that could be of better help
kupi 2017-01-29 05:01:55
somiaj: but it's official
kupi 2017-01-29 05:02:08
Topic for channel #debian-x32: Official development
kupi 2017-01-29 05:02:08
coordination channel of the Debian/x32 port -
somiaj 2017-01-29 05:02:35
kupi: by unoffical port, I mean one that is not being supprted with the releases...not that it isn't supported by the debian community.
somiaj 2017-01-29 05:02:54
I guess the webpage calls them offical and other.
TomTomTosch 2017-01-29 05:03:05
the site you linked has installer images and instructions on how to install without the installer.
S1ohy 2017-01-29 05:11:22
Is this an issue with apt or with what I'm trying to do?: http://paste.lisp.org/display/337685
TomTomTosch 2017-01-29 05:13:43
possibly a bug in stretched version of apt-add-repository. but don't add ubuntu ppas to your debian system if you don't want to breake it.
S1ohy 2017-01-29 05:14:12
sometimes you have to
S1ohy 2017-01-29 05:14:29
trying to get infinality font rendering :/
shewp 2017-01-29 05:15:38
i accidentally installed steam via ubuntu ppa once, rip system
S1ohy 2017-01-29 05:16:42
how much harm would come upon me if I installed a jessie .deb?
TomTomTosch 2017-01-29 05:18:15
just don't do it. build from source if you need to.
S1ohy 2017-01-29 05:18:23
sigh
S1ohy 2017-01-29 05:18:35
https://github.com/cmpitg/infinality-debian-package
S1ohy 2017-01-29 05:18:49
that doesnt work, as in not building the right deb files
S1ohy 2017-01-29 05:19:22
anyone have experience building that?
S1ohy 2017-01-29 05:19:23
