Is DRM removed in firefox in Debian package repository?
jklmnop1 2017-01-29 08:01:34
sorry to say I don't even know what DRM is, I think.. not totally sure where to verify whether it'd have been removed from the Deb pkg repo either really..hmh.
GNUnymous_IRC 2017-01-29 08:01:37
I want to use Debian GNU/Hurd.
GNUnymous_IRC 2017-01-29 08:02:01
jklmnop1: DRM is Digital Restrictions Management.
sypher 2017-01-29 08:02:11

GNUnymous_IRC 2017-01-29 08:02:49
What is "s/something/something"?
jrtc27 2017-01-29 08:03:10
s/a/b means replace a with b
GNUnymous_IRC 2017-01-29 08:03:10
*s/something/something/
jrtc27 2017-01-29 08:03:15
it's the syntax for sed

Is DRM removed from Firefox in GNU/Hurd?
sypher 2017-01-29 08:06:54
I don't believe that Debian modifies Firefox from upstream, but some DRM modules are binary blobs that may or may not be convertible across kernel architectures.
sypher 2017-01-29 08:07:07
That's my educated way of saying "dunno, try it and see."
GNUnymous_IRC 2017-01-29 08:07:40
Ok. I need to check source package.
GNUnymous_IRC 2017-01-29 08:08:23
No source package. :(

GNUnymous_IRC: what do you mean no source package?
GNUnymous_IRC 2017-01-29 08:14:41
Where I can download source package for firefox_45.0.2-1+hurd.1_hurd-i386.deb?
jelly 2017-01-29 08:16:10
GNUnymous_IRC: same repos you can download the binary .deb from
jelly 2017-01-29 08:16:12
!deb-src
dpkg 2017-01-29 08:16:12
You can have apt download the from which a was compiled using a "deb-src" line in your . A line like "deb-src http://deb.debian.org/debian sid main" does NOT make any binary packages available. Ask me about ; make sure the "build-essential" package is installed. You might need linux-headers-$(uname -r) package installed.
jelly 2017-01-29 08:17:03
GNUnymous_IRC: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enable-drm tells you which platforms relevant CDM exist for at all -- hurd is not listed
(I searched the name of what you were seeking ("firefox_45.0.2-1+hurd.1_hurd-i386") on https://duckduckgo/html btw;)
GNUnymous_IRC 2017-01-29 08:19:18
I want GNU/Hurd iso.
jklmnop1 2017-01-29 08:19:55
iso,huh.. sorry, major n00b to linux in general I'm afraid.. not really sure what that even means..hmh... some more details and maybe I could try help ya find it still though, if you'd want
jelly 2017-01-29 08:20:13
GNUnymous_IRC: you can only get development snapshots, as it never got stable enough to be a supported platform
jelly 2017-01-29 08:20:37
dpkg, tell GNUnymous_IRC about hurd
jelly 2017-01-29 08:21:51
GNUnymous_IRC: since it's a small port, it's probably best to ask in the subproject channel
jelly 2017-01-29 08:22:24
or #hurd
jelly 2017-01-29 08:23:26
#hurd seems to have links to images in their topic
missmbob 2017-01-29 08:31:10
i thought they changed working on that kernel in favor of gnu os with linux libre ?
missmbob 2017-01-29 08:31:24
s/changed/stopped
somiaj 2017-01-29 08:32:38
Sure there are some academics out there who still want to try to get hurd to work outside of theory...
zykotick9 2017-01-29 08:35:49
missmbob: sidenote, gnu "officially" has two kernels.. hurd & linux-libre
Qantourisc 2017-01-29 08:41:57
/etc/init.d/lighttpd start doesn't start, reports no errors
Qantourisc 2017-01-29 08:42:04
yet doesn't start
Qantourisc 2017-01-29 08:42:19
restart is also broken, an old lighttpd proccess can still be running
Qantourisc 2017-01-29 08:42:57
isn't systemd suppost to detect failure to start ?
somiaj 2017-01-29 08:44:56
what does systemctl status lighttpd say? Also these services check the file /etc/X11/default-display-manager and nicely exit if they aren't the default
