TomTomTo1 2017-01-26 15:59:40

plzhlp 2017-01-26 15:59:58

plzhlp 2017-01-26 16:00:07
i believe i already tried that lemme check
TomTomTo1 2017-01-26 16:01:13

plzhlp 2017-01-26 16:01:33
how do i get that kernel
plzhlp 2017-01-26 16:01:38

TomTomTo1 2017-01-26 16:02:59
if you don't have a working connection on that machine you can download the packages you need from packages.debian.org on another machine and transfer it using removable media.
plzhlp 2017-01-26 16:03:18
i have wired on it
plzhlp 2017-01-26 16:03:27

plzhlp 2017-01-26 16:05:18

plzhlp 2017-01-26 16:05:51
so would i do "install backports iwlwifi"
TomTomTo1 2017-01-26 16:06:37
you will need the linux-image-amd64 package and firmware-iwlwifi from backports. assuming your system is amd64.
plzhlp 2017-01-26 16:06:54
yes it is
TomTomTo1 2017-01-26 16:07:03

TomTomTo1 2017-01-26 16:07:20
eh, wheezy-backports, sorry.
plzhlp 2017-01-26 16:07:33

TomTomTo1 2017-01-26 16:09:47

[8086:08b1] is 'Wireless 7260' from 'Intel Corporation' with kernel modules 'ata_generic', 'snd-hda-intel' in jessie. See also http://kmuto.jp/debian/hcl/index.rhtmlx?check=1&lspci=8086:08b1

TomTomTo1 2017-01-26 16:26:33

TomTomTo1 2017-01-26 16:36:46
hmuller: that binary is part of the apt-utils package which should come with all normal debian systems. are you using the debian docker image?
hmuller 2017-01-26 16:39:03
TomTomTo1: no, I was just wondering why I needed apt-utils, and that specifically. I refined my google search on the matter and discovered why it matters.
TomTomTo1 2017-01-26 16:39:23
alright
hmuller 2017-01-26 16:40:32
TomTomTo1: seems to me apt-utils should be a hard dependency on debconf, instead of recommended
