Guys! How do I open .rar file in debian? Any program I can DL from synaptic for this?
jelly 2017-01-27 02:51:12
Aimmy: unrar, if it works
Aimmy 2017-01-27 02:52:02
There is no program in synaptic that's named unrar? there is unzip but I don't think it supports .rar.

Edit /etc/apt/sources.list, ensure that the two main Debian mirror lines end with "main contrib non-free" rather than just "main", then «aptitude update». But bear in mind that you'll be installing software. These may have onerous terms; check the licenses. See also .
Hello71 2017-01-27 02:52:41
don't say "DL", and you can't "download from synaptic"

Hey, does anyone know where to find information about memory overcommitting on a per process basis. E.g. Committed_AS in /proc/meminfo gives you a total count, but i'd like to find out what's responsible
n4dir 2017-01-27 02:54:40
unrar-free is in the main repo though ( ages i ran into rar files, might be unrar-free came with drawbacks)
Aimmy 2017-01-27 02:54:45
ah, thank you themill. I forgot to mark thoose in repository.
Aimmy 2017-01-27 02:55:06
Hello71: Okay boss. Maybe you should correct one if you're interested in correcting people.
jelly 2017-01-27 02:56:51
Aimmy: if you enable non-free, you can install the actual "rar" thing that works best (but is only free for use for 30 days or so)

Hi there, can anyone assist in sieve configuration (debian 8.7, dovecot, roundcube, postfix)?
petn-randall 2017-01-27 03:29:04
drdom: Just ask ahead, if someone knows they'll chime in.

Anyone succeed spawning a systemd-nspawn container with --read-only under debian testing ? nspawn fails with the following message: "Failed to create directory /var/lib/machines/test/sys: Read-only file system" (works ok under ubuntu)
petn-randall 2017-01-27 03:29:57
AMIGrAve: You can ask in the following channel, where all the Debian testing/sid users hang out:
petn-randall 2017-01-27 03:30:00
!debian-next
dpkg 2017-01-27 03:30:00
#debian-next is the channel for testing/unstable support on the OFTC network (irc.oftc.net), *not* on Freenode. If you get "Cannot join #debian-next (Channel is invite only)." it means you did not read it's on irc.oftc.net.
AMIGrAve 2017-01-27 03:30:18
petn-randall: thanks
AMIGrAve 2017-01-27 03:31:29
btw how can I be invited in #debian-next ?
TomTomTosch 2017-01-27 03:32:58
#debian-next is not on freenode. read the factoid again.
drdom 2017-01-27 03:33:15
I configured sieve in dovecot lda and lmtp, installed roundcube plugin, actived a rule. managesieve port running, dovecot debug shows startup of managesieve. but can not see why it does not work, debug mode does not show anything related to rules
AMIGrAve 2017-01-27 03:34:59
TomTomTosch: well I /parted to early and don't have scrollback. how can I executed the !debian-next factoid ? (sorry it's a long time I didn't used irc)
petn-randall 2017-01-27 03:35:25
AMIGrAve: /query dpkg debian-next
AMIGrAve 2017-01-27 03:35:33
