anybody using rear relax and recover bare metal restore on Jessie?
rgammans 2017-01-28 00:55:24
Does anyone know what happened to ext2prepare ?
rgammans 2017-01-28 00:55:42
I desont' seem to be in e2fsprogs these days
fluffyship 2017-01-28 01:01:56
hello everyone, I have an HP 15ay051nl, new, and when I try to boot debian from USB for some reason it does not detect it, and windows boots automatically.
abrotman 2017-01-28 01:02:28
how did you prepare the USB?
fluffyship 2017-01-28 01:02:33
I disable the secure boot of course and, for some reason, while debian and debian+non-free don't work, linux mint debian edition starts just fine (!!)
fluffyship 2017-01-28 01:02:45
dd if=file.iso of=/dev/sdX
abrotman 2017-01-28 01:03:07
which ISO did oyu use?
fluffyship 2017-01-28 01:03:26
debian-live-8.7.1-amd64-cinnamon-desktop+nonfree
fluffyship 2017-01-28 01:03:55
but I also tried the jessie 8.7.1 "normal" amd64 before
fluffyship 2017-01-28 01:05:05
I also tried the bunsenlabs iso, which is another debian-based distro, and that doesn't boot neither
fluffyship 2017-01-28 01:05:41
(I know we are not supposed to talk about other distros, but it was just a test, I'd like to install debian just with debian official repos)
abrotman 2017-01-28 01:09:31
fluffyship: are you trying to install, or just run it?
fluffyship 2017-01-28 01:10:05
I'd like to have a live run first to check that all the hardware works, so to test wifi, audio and so on, and then install it
fluffyship 2017-01-28 01:10:28
but I mean, just having a little boot, even just a word before going into windows would be nice =D
eugenmayer1 2017-01-28 01:12:02
hello. on one of my debian boxes very single wget on a SSL site ends up in a certificate validation error. i have ca-certificates installed
eugenmayer1 2017-01-28 01:12:45
its a debian 6 instance, so fairly old of course ( the last one in the infra though ). Any ideas why this might happen?
abrotman 2017-01-28 01:15:18
fluffyship: my point was going to be to try the stretch RC1
abrotman 2017-01-28 01:15:33
eugenmayer1: Do you know what the CA is?
eugenmayer1 2017-01-28 01:15:46
aure abrotman
eugenmayer1 2017-01-28 01:16:14
s/aure/sure
eugenmayer1 2017-01-28 01:17:21
abrotman: sorry, missread your question. It does not matter which SSL site i query. Be it https://goedit.io ( comodo ) or in the real case https://api.cloudflare.com/ .. i am actually trying to get acme.sh running. it works on all of my boxes except this one
eugenmayer1 2017-01-28 01:17:59
AddTrust ist the root for api. and Comodo RSA for GoEdit.ui
eugenmayer1 2017-01-28 01:18:49
abrotman: interestingly https://www.debian.org/ works
abrotman 2017-01-28 01:19:28
I'd just wonder if the CA for the others isn't available in your older version of ca-certs
fluffyship 2017-01-28 01:19:49
abrotman, mmhm, I wanted to keep to stable if possible... but I'll give it a shot, even if just to test it, thanks!
eugenmayer1 2017-01-28 01:20:16
abrotman: yes, thats why i used by debian 8 boxed, tared /etc/ssl/certs /usr/share/ca-certificates and transfered them
eugenmayer1 2017-01-28 01:20:59
but that did not fix it. I was thinking about the same. I currently think it might be rather an sign rsa key verification issue, though debian and goedit and api use SHA265
rgammans 2017-01-28 01:21:49
whats the easiest way to resize a filesystem ; when resize2fs reports " Filesystem does not support online resizing"; I was going to use ext2prepare but cant find what package that is in
eugenmayer1 2017-01-28 01:22:02
rgammans: which FS?
rgammans 2017-01-28 01:22:06
ext3
eugenmayer1 2017-01-28 01:22:50
try ext2online
rgammans 2017-01-28 01:24:03
I cant find a package called that in the sources list.
rgammans 2017-01-28 01:24:12
I 'm sure it used to exist.
eugenmayer1 2017-01-28 01:26:05
abrotman: could it be the openssl version?
abrotman 2017-01-28 01:39:22
eugenmayer1: I mean, maybe? but that seems iffy. You could setup a VM to test it
abrotman 2017-01-28 01:39:37
rgammans: try packages.debian.org
tp43_ 2017-01-28 01:41:27
Hi abrotman Sometimes my chromium crashes and so I use #killall chromium. And then when I restart chromium, it takes up space on the screen but it is completely transparent. So I have to restart my computer to get chromium back working. Do you know by chance what happens during reboot that refreshes chromium so I could perform that action instead of actually restarting to refresh chromium. I tried deleting .config/chromium and .cache/chromium b
tp43_ 2017-01-28 01:41:27
ut that didn't work.
tp43_ 2017-01-28 01:42:58
oh btw, actually I have to call #killall chromium twice if that gives a clue of something
fluffyship 2017-01-28 01:43:54
abrotman, thanks, stretch RC1 worked! Why do you think that is?
teraflops 2017-01-28 01:44:19
tp43_: if anyone has an answer for you appart from abrotman are we supposed to tell you?
