hey folks...so i downloaded the firmware debian .iso and for some reason, its still not able to setup network conectivity in the installer
mad_hatter 2017-01-28 15:24:51
is there something im doing wrong?
Kafei 2017-01-28 15:28:23
mad_hatter: Who manufactures your wifi card
mad_hatter 2017-01-28 15:29:12
realtek
Kafei 2017-01-28 15:30:22
You probably need the realtek-firmware package which isn't in the nonfree firmware Debian CDs (idk why)
Kafei 2017-01-28 15:30:54
If you're able to, just plug yourself in for the install and grab that after
mad_hatter 2017-01-28 15:31:07
can't, no network cable :(
Kafei 2017-01-28 15:31:22
Or load it in the installer beforehand (idk how, but I'm sure you've seen the installer ask if you've got extra usb media)
mad_hatter 2017-01-28 15:31:38
ive only got one usb drive
mad_hatter 2017-01-28 15:31:57
is there a way that i can load the realtek-firmware package onto the same usb as the network installer .iso
Kafei 2017-01-28 15:32:04
I'm not sure if the installer needs you to point it to a separate partition for it to load stuff
Kafei 2017-01-28 15:32:13
or a separate device
Kafei 2017-01-28 15:32:22
You might be able to create an extra partition on that same device
Kafei 2017-01-28 15:32:45
But that's as far as my knowledge goes, hopefully someone else is around who can help
mad_hatter 2017-01-28 15:34:07
alrighty, thanks
