Hi
CodeMachine 2017-01-28 05:48:25
Hey guys. I'm Trying to download Qubes OS with signature but I'm not sure if I'm doing this correct. It's the first time I try this. Maybe someone can tell me if I'm doing this correct? qubes-os.org/downloads --> download "signature" --> open program KGPG --> file --> open editor --> signature --> verify signature --> sign/verify but now I get error: signing not possible, bad passphrase or missing key. What key does he mean? Mine or qubes?

After installing a backports kernel (4.8.0) in Debian Jessie my xserver doesn't start anymore, I just get a blinking terminal cursor and I don't have any running X or so. What can I do?
GenTooMan 2017-01-28 05:49:21
gpenguin heh the problem is I have an application opened that took over one of my displays, for some reason it's now the default display thus I either close the application to view logs. Oh probably should anyhow. Trying to figure out why the system freezes when running a certain program.
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 05:49:58
I've installed linux-image-amd86/4.8+77~bpo8+1
systop 2017-01-28 05:51:01

zykotick9 2017-01-28 05:59:54
Plushwolf: does booting your old kernel give you a working xorg?
hubot 2017-01-28 06:00:41
Hi!
hubot 2017-01-28 06:01:15
My Debian doesn't awake after suspending it
oty 2017-01-28 06:04:06
hey
oty 2017-01-28 06:04:12
mencoder does not exist anymore ? oO
oty 2017-01-28 06:04:19
I don't find it anywhere
ompaul 2017-01-28 06:04:19
hubot: https://wiki.debian.org/Suspend
zykotick9 2017-01-28 06:06:25
oty: i hear mplayer will be returning to stable in stretch... you might want to try libavutil or ffmpeg (from backports) perhaps. good luck.
oty 2017-01-28 06:08:06
arf
oty 2017-01-28 06:08:08
:(
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:09:19
zykotick9: yes
zykotick9 2017-01-28 06:10:05
Plushwolf: have you installed video drivers from a vendors website? (vs installing from debian's repo)
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:10:22
zykotick9: I only have Intel graphics
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:10:29
zykotick9: brb, rebooting
missmbob 2017-01-28 06:10:51
oh that's what people are doing now?
missmbob 2017-01-28 06:11:14
with intel? wtf
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:12:48
Okay
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:12:53
dmesg | grep EE
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:13:18
no output
zykotick9 2017-01-28 06:13:40
Plushwolf: i doubt grep EE from dmesg is very helpful. i think they meant to do that EE grep on xorg log output?!?!
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:14:25
(EE) no screen found(EE)
zykotick9 2017-01-28 06:15:54
Plushwolf: if you run "lspci -v | grep -i vga" do you ONLY have intel, or is this hybrid intel+SOMETHINGELSE?
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:16:05
I only have Intel
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:16:17
And I don't have any dedicated GPU or so
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:16:19
only Intel
zykotick9 2017-01-28 06:17:43
Plushwolf: sorry, i have no suggestions. intel has _almost_ always just worked for me. best of luck. PS. did you have a reason for installing backport kernel?
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:18:11
Kaby Lake chipset
mtn 2017-01-28 06:18:40
Plushwolf: did you install the intel video driver from backports, too? if not, do so
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:19:02
What's the package name?
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:21:12
Okay, now it works
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:32:04
Does kernel 3.16 from Debian support Kaby Lake btw?
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:32:10
If yes I don't need backports
missmbob 2017-01-28 06:32:51
no
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:33:15
Okay then :)
Plushwolf 2017-01-28 06:33:31
But thanks for all zykotick9 and mtn :)
