I can say that 1.2 G wil not suffice as reported by df -h /var
tharkun 2017-01-27 16:46:55
And no, I have 8.7 which I believe should be current.
themill 2017-01-27 16:46:59

looks like your / is filled up (or where you mounted /lib/ to)
themill 2017-01-27 16:51:39
tharkun: yeah, looks like this is about /lib (on / perhaps?) not /var
themill 2017-01-27 16:52:17
tharkun: "df -h /lib" might be instructive
chomwitt 2017-01-27 16:57:00
how it's explained 'apt-cache --names-only search "^free.*" ' to return 'ice34-services - Services bundled into ZeroC Ice' among the results?
S1ohy 2017-01-27 16:58:20
Trying to reload the known units by systemd with ``systemctl --user daemon-reload'' The following is returned: ``Failed to connect to bus: No such file or directory''. Where should I look to fix this issue?
coruja 2017-01-27 17:00:01
S1ohy, journalctl is a good starting point for research

How many kernel packages do you have installed? (aptitude search ~nlinux-image~i)
tharkun 2017-01-27 17:15:43
iu linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64 - Linux 3.16 for 64-bit PCs and i linux-image-amd64 - Linux for 64-bit PCs (meta-package)
tharkun 2017-01-27 17:15:53
Which should amount to much
tharkun 2017-01-27 17:15:58
shouldn't

tharkun: You probably need to find another 60MB so that the two kernel packages can be unpacked side-by-side during the upgrade
themill 2017-01-27 17:19:31
Given it looks like you're on LVM there, growing / might be an option for you
tharkun 2017-01-27 17:20:23
themill: Thanks I'll write it down on my todo.txt for sometime next week. I appreciate your time and effort.
themill 2017-01-27 17:21:33
If getting that kernel upgrade sorted is an immediate priority and you can't see other things installed in /lib or /bin that you can remove, then you could force the uninstallation of your running kernel, then install the new one, then reboot. But that's, umm, the high risk strategy.
tharkun 2017-01-27 17:22:25
