CRM114 2017-01-30 01:48:35
rty: no Unity
CRM114 2017-01-30 01:49:54
rty: get a book, Linux Bible, or Ubuntu Bible, those usually cover the basics and some neat tricks pretty well, not sure when's the latest edition, but they usually update them often
CRM114 2017-01-30 01:53:00
rty: also, if someone tells you to install Gentoo, he's trolling and wants to make you suffer
rty 2017-01-30 01:53:38
are u joking?
CRM114 2017-01-30 01:53:57
no
CRM114 2017-01-30 01:54:09
it's a fairly common trolling tactic
CRM114 2017-01-30 01:54:23
you can look it up on know your meme site
Freemon 2017-01-30 02:06:19
hey guys
Freemon 2017-01-30 02:06:45
is their any way to show the EIXF data and video time length in nautilus ?
unborn 2017-01-30 02:08:16
CRM114: gentoo is good but debian is much better.. I am not expert for trolling but I've been using gentoo as my first distro back in 2006.. yes it was not easy but when switching to other distros I was able to work it out if any problems.. thanks to the fact I had to do all things in gentoo manually from scratch..
Freemon 2017-01-30 02:08:36
i want to know
Freemon 2017-01-30 02:08:50
if it is possaible in nautilus to show viedo time length?
Freemon 2017-01-30 02:09:00
or image EIXF data?
unborn 2017-01-30 02:09:21
CRM114: somewhere in 2015 I realised that I should be running debian on desktop.. not only on servers.. and since then only debian exist for me ;)
unborn 2017-01-30 02:09:54
...so its not that bad at all.
Freemon 2017-01-30 02:10:12
help me@!
jcplouf 2017-01-30 02:10:51
anyone know stuff about GPUs on headless servers? I'm not sure what to install..
sypher 2017-01-30 02:11:29
jcplouf: A little more detail on that? What are you trying to do?
Freemon 2017-01-30 02:11:41
u have to compiler it seperately with ur kernal header
jcplouf 2017-01-30 02:12:37
sypher: I have a big server with two big gpus inside, I installed a debian as a host OS on it
jcplouf 2017-01-30 02:12:58
sypher: I'm going to set up kvm next
sypher 2017-01-30 02:13:37
jcplouf: Trying to go GPU passthrough to the guests?
jcplouf 2017-01-30 02:13:38
sypher: if I don't have an X server on the host debian, will the VMs be able to use the GPUs for their applications?
jcplouf 2017-01-30 02:14:07
something like that yeah sypher
sypher 2017-01-30 02:14:22
sypher: I -believe- that QEMU-KVM has the ability to grant guests access to the host's GPU, but that's not something I've ever really messed with myself.
sypher 2017-01-30 02:14:31
wtf, I just replied to myself.
sypher 2017-01-30 02:14:34
jcplouf: That stuff.
jcplouf 2017-01-30 02:14:40
hehe I got it
jcplouf 2017-01-30 02:14:55
I don't know if I should install the nvidia driver or a X server on the host
jcplouf 2017-01-30 02:15:06
or just do everything on the guests
sypher 2017-01-30 02:15:39
jcplouf: The guests don't have a GPU, they only see the hardware that KVM exposes.
sd7gs6 2017-01-30 02:15:44
am I right thinking that as long as apt upgrade says 0 not upgraded, full-upgrade is never needed to be used?
sypher 2017-01-30 02:15:46
jcplouf: At the same time, you're not running X on the host.
ilmaisin 2017-01-30 02:28:43
