hello, i screwed up when i was setting up my resolution. Can someone tell me how can i change in in ctrl+alt+f1 mode?
bonehead 2017-01-30 07:49:04
anyone? no one?
bolt 2017-01-30 07:51:08
bonehead: you'd have to figure out where your particular desktop environment and/or login manager stores those settings
zykotick9 2017-01-30 07:51:21
bonehead: you're not giving a lot of details... 1) do you have an /etc/X11/xorg.conf file or setting in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ directory, that could be moved out of the way? 2) how did you set your resolution? and 3) what graphics are you using?
bolt 2017-01-30 07:51:33
my desktop resolution is stored in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, but i'm old
bonehead 2017-01-30 07:54:18
zykotick9: im using openbox with xfce as a layground (bunsenlabs linux). Yes its xorg.conf. the graphics card drivers are fglrx
bonehead 2017-01-30 07:54:50
and no, i checked xorg.conf for the desktop resolution and nothing is there
Vizva 2017-01-30 07:55:44
on some changes normally you must accept this changes
bolt 2017-01-30 07:55:46
bonehead: you need to check with #bunsenlabs, then, or whatever the support channel of that would be
Vizva 2017-01-30 07:55:55
you did try run X again with same results?
bolt 2017-01-30 07:56:02
bonehead: you're using a derivative of a derivative of debian, which is not debian
bonehead 2017-01-30 07:56:12
:/
bonehead 2017-01-30 07:56:17
i guess im in the wrong room

!bunsenlabs
dpkg 2017-01-30 07:56:50
BunsenLabs Linux is a community continuation of that features the window manager. It is not supported in #debian. http://www.bunsenlabs.org/ #bunsenlabs on chat.freenode.net. See

too late!
styks1987 2017-01-30 07:58:12
general linux question. I want to zip a remote file. Is something like this possible? zip somefile.zip "http://remotefile.jpg" Obviously what I typed here does not work but any workarounds? I don't want to actually download the file to disk
bolt 2017-01-30 07:58:31
people switching distros to get a different window manager... it's been like that for a while. a sign, perhaps, that a more extensive list of window manager options is called for in the installer?
bolt 2017-01-30 07:59:07
styks1987: you can pipe tools like curl directly into gzip
bolt 2017-01-30 07:59:47
probably "zip" too, though i've never done that
styks1987 2017-01-30 08:00:06
ok cool, thanks
styks1987 2017-01-30 08:20:28
bolt: can't seem to find an example that works, how do you do it?
jelly 2017-01-30 08:21:13
styks1987: there are fuse-based filesystems like curlftpfs that can make a remote ftp or http site appear as a filesystem. If you have ssh/sftp access, use sshfs instead
