AlexLikeRock 2017-01-25 06:07:27
i report GRUB2
AlexLikeRock 2017-01-25 06:07:33

AlexLikeRock 2017-01-25 06:07:46
GRUB2 not boot,
AlexLikeRock 2017-01-25 06:08:32
just *** REMOVE "console=hvc0 console=ttyS0" ***from GRUB.cfg
AlexLikeRock 2017-01-25 06:08:57
i tink they are to virtual machine , but my pc have dissable by BIOS
transhuman 2017-01-25 06:09:20
hi! In Windows there is something called sysprep and some other things that are used to make a system unique after cloning...is there anything that works with debian to do the same type of things ( obviously there is major differences but generally, is it even necessary on any level)? For instance networking uniqueness?
AlexLikeRock 2017-01-25 06:09:22
and i cant LOGin to BIOS and ENABLE
jelly 2017-01-25 06:10:27
transhuman: a different system will have different MAC addresses. You still need to change things like hostname, domain name, ip address...
grawity 2017-01-25 06:11:03
I don't know of premade tools
grawity 2017-01-25 06:11:15
but mostly you just have to nuke things like machine-id or dhcp.leases
transhuman 2017-01-25 06:11:22
I was also thinking certificates and things
grawity 2017-01-25 06:12:10
that being /etc/ssh/ssh_host_*key*
jelly 2017-01-25 06:12:13
transhuman: a very short very basic reconf script we use after imaging at work: http://paste.debian.net/910566/
grawity 2017-01-25 06:12:30
and /etc/machine-id
transhuman 2017-01-25 06:12:32
seems like such a tool would be very handy, especially with virtualization and things
grawity 2017-01-25 06:13:02
dunno, with virtualization I'd probably prefer ansible-style tools
grawity 2017-01-25 06:13:24
which record *how* to prepare it, not merely the end result
jelly 2017-01-25 06:13:38
transhuman: and the image is carefully written to not contain lots of autogenerated stuff like /etc/udev/rules/70-persistent-net.rules
jelly 2017-01-25 06:15:06
what grawity describes is best practice in linux world, yes, use tools to install every system from scratch and set up things that need to be set up using templates from a configuration management system
transhuman 2017-01-25 06:15:51
ok I guess that answers my question, I am familiar with some of those tools, I just was looking for shortcuts, thanks
grawity 2017-01-25 06:16:31
I haven't yet gotten around to finishing the playbooks for that, but
grawity 2017-01-25 06:16:45
at work, plenty of servers already have junk on top of junk on top of junk
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:17:01
hello guys... i have serious problem i think... i can't boot up my debian stretch, i didn't updated it for a while because everything was working fine... until today. i can't boot up the system... not even the rescue mode of grub... it starts loading than nothing, black screen... i put netinstall cd and put network interface up, used apt-get tu update upgrade and dist updgrade the system. now i have even a new kernel in grub loader and it
grawity 2017-01-25 06:17:05
better not continue that trend by cloning a server and hoping it works
jelly 2017-01-25 06:18:01
dixie7z: and it ...?
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:18:12
what? :D
jelly 2017-01-25 06:18:19
you stopped there
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:18:20
it still wont boot
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:18:44
whzat
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:18:53
what log files should i give to you?
jelly 2017-01-25 06:18:56
so grub is still working and you can pick a menu entry?
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:19:01
yes
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:19:14
it starts to load... then black screen
jelly 2017-01-25 06:19:34
alreight, use the default one, but edit it and remove the "quiet" option from the linux command line
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:19:39
from rescue mode on netinstall cd i upgraded the system.. thought that would solve the problem
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:20:12
okej. will try that
jelly 2017-01-25 06:20:14
dixie7z: did you do just upgrade, or dist-upgrade? stretch is still testing and dependencies change
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:20:15
thanks
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:20:25
dist-upgrade and upgrade
jelly 2017-01-25 06:20:30
alright
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:21:01
will reboot now without silent
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:21:13
quiet
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:21:17
i mean... :\
jelly 2017-01-25 06:21:18
maybe it will provide some clue on where precisely it stops
jelly 2017-01-25 06:23:15
and even if the screen goes black, it might just be the graphics are borked but the system still boots -- if hd led continues blinking for a while, maybe the machine becomes pingable on the local network and you can log in via ssh?
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:33:58
jelly: now it reads this everythime even with quiet option https://imgur.com/gallery/Rkk0C
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:35:35
i think i done something even worse :D
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:35:39
now...
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:36:45
how cute.... even windows can see my ext4 partition and all the files in it... and linux can't mount it
jelly 2017-01-25 06:36:46
"Bad message" is a weird message
jelly 2017-01-25 06:37:34
dixie7z: I have no idea what happened there
jelly 2017-01-25 06:37:38
!debug initramfs
dpkg 2017-01-25 06:37:38
hmm... initramfsdebug is http://wiki.debian.org/InitramfsDebug
xXEoflaOEXx 2017-01-25 06:38:21
dixie7z, It seems that init is not found.
jelly 2017-01-25 06:38:34
dixie7z: does cat /proc/mounts show it got mounted or not? Is /dev/sda4 supposed to be your linux filesystem?
jelly 2017-01-25 06:38:48
xXEoflaOEXx: that's the last error.
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:38:56
yes. dev sda4 is my linuy file system
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:39:11
x
toruvinn 2017-01-25 06:39:24
dixie7z, im just guessing here, but whatever you use under windows probably ignores things like superblock checksums, because hey, what could go wrong, right? ;-)
jelly 2017-01-25 06:39:34
dixie7z: boot a livecd and run fsck on /dev/sda4, like the message near the top says
toruvinn 2017-01-25 06:39:43
exactly what i'd do.
xXEoflaOEXx 2017-01-25 06:39:45
dixie7z, Try to mkdir /root/dev, /root/run and try to run fsck /dev/sda4
toruvinn 2017-01-25 06:39:51
however i'd run it in readonly mode first...
jelly 2017-01-25 06:40:00
dixie7z: and avoid whatever broken ext4 driver you used under windows
jelly 2017-01-25 06:40:17
xXEoflaOEXx: that's completely wrong
xXEoflaOEXx 2017-01-25 06:40:35
dixie7z, Is it on multiboot? Windows + Linux Debian?
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:40:41
maybe ext4 driver for windows now even made it worse... i tried to get some log files :(
jelly 2017-01-25 06:40:47
xXEoflaOEXx: all that stuff is missing because mounting the real filesystem under /root mount point failed above
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:40:56
yes dualboot
jelly 2017-01-25 06:41:11
dixie7z: it made it slightly worse, but maybe not much
jelly 2017-01-25 06:41:26
in any case you need to fsck first to fix that
xXEoflaOEXx 2017-01-25 06:41:26
dixie7z, It seems that you have to remove EXT4 drivers for Windows.
toruvinn 2017-01-25 06:41:29
dixie7z, when you get some sort of FS corruption it's sorta wise to either use it in read-only mode if you need to get your data off of it, or even a copy of the whole filesystem (on another disk, for example).
xXEoflaOEXx 2017-01-25 06:41:41
jelly, OK.
jelly 2017-01-25 06:42:17
xXEoflaOEXx: you don't need to help everyone, it's best to stick with stuff you have decent working knowledge of
dixie7z 2017-01-25 06:42:32
okej. will fsck first thanks
xXEoflaOEXx 2017-01-25 06:42:34
jelly, OK.
