oblio 2017-01-24 18:53:07

oblio 2017-01-24 18:53:24

klys 2017-01-24 18:54:26

klys 2017-01-24 18:59:15

oblio 2017-01-24 19:01:28

oblio 2017-01-24 19:01:29

oblio 2017-01-24 19:01:30

hanasaki 2017-01-24 19:04:43

missmbob 2017-01-24 19:05:12
you to to the correct server. it's on oftc not freenode
hanasaki 2017-01-24 19:05:41
ah
jakefb 2017-01-24 19:19:28
Hi I' trying to change my locale to en_US.UTF-8
jakefb 2017-01-24 19:19:49
when I run dpkg-reconfigure locales I get this error
jakefb 2017-01-24 19:21:03
https://dpaste.de/F9j1
jakefb 2017-01-24 19:21:10
Can anyone help?
klys 2017-01-24 19:23:28
try en_US.utf8
grawity 2017-01-24 19:23:46
that's not going to help
klys 2017-01-24 19:23:55
it's in the locales-all package iirc.
grawity 2017-01-24 19:23:59
the problem is, well, as perl's output shows
grawity 2017-01-24 19:24:10
your shell still has the old *environment* variables
grawity 2017-01-24 19:24:18
which are telling perl to use en_NZ.*
grawity 2017-01-24 19:24:21
but you just disabled it
grawity 2017-01-24 19:24:51
if the old LC_CTYPE was also set by dpkg-reconfigure, then a logout/login should help
grawity 2017-01-24 19:25:17
if it was set manually... find the file where it was set, adjust it, and *then* log out/log in
missmbob 2017-01-24 19:27:11
you could sudo locale-gen
jakefb 2017-01-24 19:31:59
grawity I've tried this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2499794/how-to-fix-a-locale-setting-warning-from-perl
grawity 2017-01-24 19:32:11
aaaand?
jakefb 2017-01-24 19:32:44
grawity just reconnected to the ssh server will give it a go changing the locales again
jakefb 2017-01-24 19:34:07
grawity still getting the same problem
jakefb 2017-01-24 19:34:27
I'm on a mac I logged out and back in but maybe I have to restart the ssh server
jakefb 2017-01-24 19:34:38
sshd service I mean
grawity 2017-01-24 19:35:02
the LC_CTYPE is probably pushed by the client on the mac, then
grawity 2017-01-24 19:35:16
just enable both en_US.UTF-8 and en_NZ.UTF-8 then
grawity 2017-01-24 19:35:29
since it's LC_CTYPE, it doesn't matter which one it's set to
jakefb 2017-01-24 19:36:07
Enable them both on client or ssh server?
jakefb 2017-01-24 19:36:32
I don't really understand locales that well
