Ahh so I would need to install the wm too then
extor 2017-01-23 22:50:40
Ultimate goal is to try and run wine on it. I'm guessing KDE may be best for that
jim 2017-01-23 22:51:46
gry2, I can't tell much that you don't already know... the card's working, and trying to get a dhcp server to respond to it
jim 2017-01-23 22:53:34
what wireless device is responding to your card?
jim 2017-01-23 22:55:44
do you have a wireless... router? access point?
n4dir1 2017-01-23 22:59:07
no clue, all i see are the rfkill messages, had such problems in the past, but don't remember much. e.g. http://www.geekmind.net/2011/01/linux-wifi-operation-not-possible-due.html
jim 2017-01-23 23:00:18
I think there is a configured dhcp that;s serving the wired net, but not responding to the wireless side for some reason
jim 2017-01-23 23:00:30
gry2, do you have a wireless... router? access point?
gry2 2017-01-23 23:01:52
router, in 5cm from my right hand :P
MarcoNL 2017-01-23 23:01:53
Come on guys!!! serious? I've been asking about help with a preseed script for over a week now. And there is not one response. There are around 1200!!! people in here. What are all of you doing here?? Just lurkers??
bezaban 2017-01-23 23:02:25
yep
jim 2017-01-23 23:02:53
MarcoNL, I never did a preseed setup or look at preseeding
MarcoNL 2017-01-23 23:03:33
Oh it's not to you jim, I see a couple of people answering questions, but the rest is just filling up the user list with their name
jim 2017-01-23 23:04:00
gry2, is the router making a masqed net?
gry2 2017-01-23 23:07:00
what is a masked net ?
jim 2017-01-23 23:16:52
gry2, ip masquerade... it uses unroutable IPs (like 192.168.* or 10.* and the routing function is to make machines on the internal net having those IPs get to the real internet
jim 2017-01-23 23:18:34
gry2, it might be as simple as configuring the router to have the dhcp apply to incoming wireless connections
jim 2017-01-23 23:19:42
an alternative to try might to try a static ip, but the only issue there is I don't know what net you're on
gry2 2017-01-23 23:20:05
yes it has lan ips
jomofcw 2017-01-23 23:20:48
Is it possible that, by default, the port 25 is kinda blocked using debian ? I've got postfix unable to send any mail because of time out connection error. Accord to this https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=197814 I need to unlock the port 25... but how to ?
jim 2017-01-23 23:20:55
you might have to alter its settings to have it offer those IPs over dhcp to incoming wireless connections
jim 2017-01-23 23:21:28
jomofcw, maybe your isp is blocking port 25
bezaban 2017-01-23 23:21:58
yeah, a lot of ISPs block 25 and require you to use their relay
petn-randall 2017-01-23 23:22:11
!tell jomofcw -about crosspost
jim 2017-01-23 23:22:12
but that's a total guess, informed by a couple of past experiences
petn-randall 2017-01-23 23:22:47
jomofcw: it's considered impolite to ask in several channels at once (in this case #postfix), see the explanation dpkg sent you.
jelly 2017-01-23 23:27:03
jomofcw: it's not blocked by default, no
Absynthia 2017-01-23 23:27:46
hello
jomofcw 2017-01-23 23:32:17
jim hello ! Probably not : I can contact it using telnet on my Windows computer, but not telnet it from my Debian server.
jomofcw 2017-01-23 23:33:28
petn-randall #postfix seems to be a ghost channel, and i ask it one hour ago. I concider that I can ask now here about it.
g0zzy 2017-01-23 23:34:18
Have there been reports of problems following recent (seemingly quite large) updates including kernel? My clients dual boot has disappeared and another's machine was borked following an update (though that could have been a coincidence)
