rafalcpp 2017-01-24 01:47:00
grawity: but maybe other way to use that exists. If you think you know better, why not contact http://seclists.org/oss-sec/2017/q1/175 with this information
petn-randall 2017-01-24 01:47:58
> introduced in v228, fixed in v229 (never part of a stable release)
n4dir 2017-01-24 01:48:10
petn-randall: wheezy / stable is not the problem. testing is the problem (and sid)
petn-randall 2017-01-24 01:49:23
n4dir: What is "the problem" though?
rafalcpp 2017-01-24 01:49:37
petn-randall: was it ever part of a Debian release then? because it's "fixed" on https://security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2016-10156
n4dir 2017-01-24 01:50:08
last time i checked, and it is quite a bit ago, that more and more debian apps add dependencies on systemd and libsystemd0
rafalcpp 2017-01-24 01:50:09
wheezy 44-11+deb7u4 fixed - fixed means that it was never affected by it?
grawity 2017-01-24 01:50:23
and imho, if there are holes in the kernel's setuid-clearing, then... get a CVE for the kernel instead.
petn-randall 2017-01-24 01:50:50
rafalcpp: You did real the whole page, did you?
petn-randall 2017-01-24 01:52:11
rafalcpp: wheezy has systemd v44, jessie has v215. It was introduced in v228. What does that tell you?
petn-randall 2017-01-24 01:52:26
rafalcpp: Hint: If you don't know it, it also written there for you in the notes.
rafalcpp 2017-01-24 01:55:36
petn-randall: ok. though then isn't the name "fixed" a bit confusing, it was never broken at all in that version
petn-randall 2017-01-24 01:56:41
rafalcpp: Agreed, but that's why there is also more verbose information on that page.
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 01:57:43
I have a problem. I wanna use the kernel module "8021q" to be able to vlan-tag my ethernet interfaces. Somehow this module doesn't exist in my system? Im using Kernel 3.16.0-4-s390x(Debian 3.16.39-1). Reading the documentation it shoudl be present. I'm trying to find it with find / -name "*.ko" but doesnt seem to find it anywhere.. Seomone can help
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 01:57:43
me in the right direction?
abrotman 2017-01-24 01:58:01
asdasdasd: what is the config option? is it compiled in?
tx 2017-01-24 01:58:14
which documentation?
grawity 2017-01-24 01:58:43
abrotman: grep CONFIG_VLAN_8021Q /boot/config*
tx 2017-01-24 01:58:46
asdasdasd: that module comes with `vlan`
tx 2017-01-24 01:58:47
the package.
tx 2017-01-24 01:59:03
I don't think it's put in by default.
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 01:59:11
...so basically I need to compile the vlan package into m ydebian-installer?
grawity 2017-01-24 01:59:11
tx: it's been part of the kernel for many years
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 01:59:17
I'm stuck in the installer cos I need to vlan tag my traffic
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 01:59:23
But can't cos I don't have the module
grawity 2017-01-24 01:59:30
tx: the vlan package only has the old vconfig tool
tx 2017-01-24 01:59:42
grawity: ah, I need to update myself. :(
grawity 2017-01-24 02:00:03
asdasdasd: what happens if you just try to create the vlan?
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:00:11
Operation not supported
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:00:15
by RTNETLINK
grawity 2017-01-24 02:00:25
probably not included in the installer, then
abrotman 2017-01-24 02:04:23
grawity: not me :)
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:04:43
grawity: OK, so I guess I need to compile the 8021q module into my installer?
abrotman 2017-01-24 02:04:47
asdasdasd: you can finish the install without the netowrk, and configure it, then install everything else you need?
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:05:23
abrotman I cant cos I need to tag it to the correct vlan (which is the only way to get traffic through to external networks)
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:05:50
abrotman: the installer wants to fetch the rtest of the installation packages through http
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:05:56
...and for that it needs a working connection
abrotman 2017-01-24 02:05:58
huh?
abrotman 2017-01-24 02:06:14
asdasdasd: no, it's trying to do that because you tell it to .. you can skip that step
abrotman 2017-01-24 02:06:29
unless you're using the bizcard installer, which I don't recommend doing anyway
abrotman 2017-01-24 02:06:40
I don't even know if that's still a thing
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:07:01
abrotman: humm, touche. I guess I didnt try pass that step and just "let it roll" so see if it passes
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:07:08
abrotman Ima do that and see if it bootsa
abrotman 2017-01-24 02:08:20
is this weird english-italian debian chata?
abrotman 2017-01-24 02:08:22
:)
stoned 2017-01-24 02:08:26
LOL
stoned 2017-01-24 02:08:58
Like Sanskrit. Put an 'a' at the en do fevery word when typing in English.
rafalcpp 2017-01-24 02:09:00
grawity: that .c file linked there, says it is designed to work around kernel dropping of SUID when file is written.
grawity 2017-01-24 02:09:11
sounds like a kernel bug to me
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:09:52
abrotman: ofcorsa it isa
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:10:18
abrotman: Right now it wants me to ssh to continue the installation
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:10:59
abrotman: I can't the interface isnt set to the correct vlan (cos I can't se it). there's no way for me to finish the instalalation? (through Debian Installer)
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:12:07
Im in a BusyBox v1.22.1
abrotman 2017-01-24 02:13:41
ssh to finisht the isntallation?
abrotman 2017-01-24 02:13:45
which installer did you use?
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:13:50
Debian Installer
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:14:36
I've downloaded a 4.4gb ISO-image for the s390 platform. when i boot it, it displays "Debian Installer" in my text-terminal
asdasdasd 2017-01-24 02:14:54
I'm in the "main menu"
newcoder 2017-01-24 02:19:52
I'm getting this error: http://imgur.com/a/PBifG , what should I do?
hmuller 2017-01-24 02:20:13
Having difficulty reconfiguring locales noninteractively, need fresh eyes: http://paste.debian.net/910305
hmuller 2017-01-24 02:28:24
newcoder: assuming you are using a mac to open the file later, looks like you will need to reduce the size of the backup
newcoder 2017-01-24 02:30:36
I'm not using mac
hmuller 2017-01-24 02:31:52
newcoder: then if using windows or linux, add the file. but then test to make sure you can successfully open the file later when you need it.
rafalcpp 2017-01-24 02:38:24
grawity: does POSIX / Linux define that a file that was SUID, after being written to, is atomially seen as either SUID old version, or new version no-SUID?
rafalcpp 2017-01-24 02:38:37
atomically. I can't find it, where is that defined?
rafalcpp 2017-01-24 02:39:08
(written to by not-root user I prsume)
