userro 2017-02-25 08:47:14
I thought updating to stretch means reinstalling the whole os lop
userro 2017-02-25 08:47:31
lol*
missmbob 2017-02-25 08:47:42
userro: no. i wouldnt have told you to do that, silly
userro 2017-02-25 08:48:08
heh
n4dir 2017-02-25 08:49:25
Shadow_7: if it has stable in the sources list, and the new stable will get released, you will upgrade to the next stable. If you have jessie you need to change the sources.list, so you know you *do want to upgrade
userro 2017-02-25 08:49:56
I'm getting those errors when I'm doing 'apt-get dist-upgrade'
n4dir 2017-02-25 08:50:18
though: i would assume anyone should be able to recognize if suddenly hell breaks loose when running apt-get upgrade or dist-upgrade. Still: better safe than sorry
missmbob 2017-02-25 08:50:24
userro: you did update, right? if so, pastebin apt-get -f install
userro 2017-02-25 08:50:35
yes
userro 2017-02-25 08:50:55
ok
userro 2017-02-25 08:51:30
wow
userro 2017-02-25 08:51:47
It worked
userro 2017-02-25 08:51:58
thank you so much
thadtheman 2017-02-25 08:54:27
I'm confused by something. How can I get the latest gcc ( 6.3 ) and install in jessie?\
userro 2017-02-25 08:54:40
no it didn't :(
userro 2017-02-25 08:55:10
I'll pastebin the error, 1 min
jrtc27 2017-02-25 08:55:40
,v gcc-6
judd 2017-02-25 08:55:41

jrtc27 2017-02-25 08:56:01
thadtheman: not in jessie or jessie-backports, so you'd need to backport it
jrtc27 2017-02-25 08:56:05

missmbob 2017-02-25 08:56:42
thadtheman: you cant
thadtheman 2017-02-25 08:57:57
missmbob: So I would have to compile it? How do I find out what else I would have to compile to make it work ( libstdc++? boost? )
missmbob 2017-02-25 08:58:41
thadtheman: everything judd just spat out
missmbob 2017-02-25 08:59:01
thadtheman: if you need it, seriously, upgrade to stretch
userro 2017-02-25 08:59:36
missmbob: http://pastebin.com/mvhS1sjc
missmbob 2017-02-25 09:00:26
userro: what the hell? this is raspbian?
userro 2017-02-25 09:01:09
no
missmbob 2017-02-25 09:01:20
armhf?
userro 2017-02-25 09:01:20
phone
Shadow_7 2017-02-25 09:01:23
debian armel for life. Or not, what I ran on my pi B initially. Raspbian had too many annoyances.
missmbob 2017-02-25 09:01:48
userro: sigh. i'm not sure how to help you then. hopefully someone else will
Shadow_7 2017-02-25 09:01:53
armhf is v7, the early pi's are v6
userro 2017-02-25 09:02:04
what should I do?
missmbob 2017-02-25 09:02:46
*shrug* wait and see if someone comes by. or reinstall. i dont know. i cant give advice on this one
userro 2017-02-25 09:03:07
that error doesn't occur in other architectures?
missmbob 2017-02-25 09:04:06
userro: libc6 is so critical i wouldnt know how to help it's failure in any arch.
Shadow_7 2017-02-25 09:04:09
userro: you might try the armel version(s)
thadtheman 2017-02-25 09:04:32
missmbob: The problem is that I always need the latest version, and the latest version of debian is always going to lag if I depend on backports. So I really need to build my own. But what exactly do I need to build? I don't see libstdc++ and glibc in what judd prints out, so where do I find them?
Shadow_7 2017-02-25 09:05:00
thadtheman: gcc.gnu.org ?
missmbob 2017-02-25 09:05:13
yeah. dont use debian's. ^
Shadow_7 2017-02-25 09:05:50
or virtualize the environment you need under debian
Shadow_7 2017-02-25 09:06:42
iirc, gcc has snapshots so you don't have to compile it. and you can do CC CXX type environment vars to use said things in non-standard locations.
n4dir 2017-02-25 09:07:13
userro: in general the problem is beyond me too. I seem to recall that using aptitude instead of apt-get sometimes offers "solutions" for complex problems.
userro 2017-02-25 09:07:39
ok
n4dir 2017-02-25 09:07:41
as i don't know anything detailed this is something like: instead of reinstalling, you might try that.
missmbob 2017-02-25 09:07:43
for libc6 i doubt it
TomTomTo1 2017-02-25 09:08:04
except that this is not a dependency problem.
Shadow_7 2017-02-25 09:08:15
most of what aptitude provides is simple names. kde versus kde3. But apt-cache search --names-only *kde* ... lets you know what you need to apt-get when the name is not intuitive
n4dir 2017-02-25 09:08:24
missmbob: like said, it is above me. Before i would reinstall, i would just hammer at it. If i wouldn't want to reinstall, i would wait for better advice
userro 2017-02-25 09:12:32
I've reinstalled it and now upgrading
userro 2017-02-25 09:12:45
it should probably work now
userro 2017-02-25 09:14:21
I'm trying on another phone
baum 2017-02-25 09:17:07
userro: which phone are you setting up?
userro 2017-02-25 09:17:39
it is old motorola phone
Shadow_7 2017-02-25 09:18:02
68000 old?
userro 2017-02-25 09:18:35
let me see
userro 2017-02-25 09:20:12
it says bp6x
baum 2017-02-25 09:21:56
nice
userro 2017-02-25 09:22:57
I want to host something on it
userro 2017-02-25 09:24:18
no one uses it so I thought why not use it as a server :D
missmbob 2017-02-25 09:30:01
userro: how much ram is being split between the two OS's?
userro 2017-02-25 09:30:55
it's an app
userro 2017-02-25 09:31:37
it is gnuroot debian
missmbob 2017-02-25 09:32:46
i could never root my phone :( i use android pay way too much
userro 2017-02-25 09:35:01
it doesn't require root. It's name is misleading. It will work without root
missmbob 2017-02-25 09:35:01
oh, cool
x42 2017-02-25 09:37:11
Hi there - i have troubles bringing up my new on board intel lan: http://pastebin.com/SdDPRqix
x42 2017-02-25 09:37:46
I already make installed the intel e1000e driver - but the interface still failes to come up.
x42 2017-02-25 09:37:56
any suggestions=
petn-randall 2017-02-25 09:40:02
x42: You shouldn't need to build the drivers by hand. Check /var/log/kern.log, maybe you are missing firmware.
