And then there was run level quirks. level 5 is supposed to be the GUI, but debian did GUI at run level 2.

Shadow_7: Those runlevels aren't standardized. There are common conventions, but no real standard. Debian never really implemented multiple runlevels, just the framework for LSB compliance.

I have a permissions issue. A user lool and group lool owns the folder /etc/loolwsd/ and all files in it but /etc is owned by root. This user can not view or access any of the files in this folder anyway. Why?

Guest60693: boot a live distro and give it a manual fsck. Some filesystems do that like xfs on /
