I don't have a freaking LVM partition and yet it's being lodged into the initramfs
TimurTheLame 2017-02-26 23:57:56
They're all in /usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks
guest452 2017-02-26 23:58:25
How do I check what firmware is missing, can't find any boot logs?
camh 2017-02-26 23:59:03
TimurTheLame: perhaps look into dracut instead. It creates an initramfs based on only what is needed to mount the root fs
camh 2017-02-26 23:59:17
initramfs-tools throws everything in whether it is needed or not
r0ck 2017-02-26 23:59:18
hey ppl
r0ck 2017-02-26 23:59:34
what about google fonts on debian stretch?
TimurTheLame 2017-02-26 23:59:41
camh: hmm. I'll check it right now.
r0ck 2017-02-26 23:59:47
why my droid serif looks smaller and consumes less page as it was on jessie?
camh 2017-02-26 23:59:50
you can install dracut-core (dracut conflicts with initramfs-tools which is what the kernel depends on)
TimurTheLame 2017-02-27 00:01:01
camh: Jesus, it has so many dependencies
TimurTheLame 2017-02-27 00:02:02
camh: can I just delete the fuse file from the hooks folder?
camh 2017-02-27 00:02:38
TimurTheLame: that'll work too afaik
jjulian__ 2017-02-27 00:05:02
are there anymore config folders then /etc/cups for printers? i deleted and reset all data before working with the web interface but i im unable to reset it to before even after reboots
oiaohm 2017-02-27 00:17:28
David_Hedlund: I am going to miss the iceweasel name.
oiaohm 2017-02-27 00:17:38
I liked the logo
oiaohm 2017-02-27 00:17:40
as well.
David_Hedlund 2017-02-27 00:17:42
oiaohm: Try IceCat.
g0zzy 2017-02-27 00:48:15
iceweasel jobs are sticking in the print queue (Wheezy). What can be done?
rootkea 2017-02-27 00:50:46
Hello! I'm using Firefox Developer Edition 52.0a2 When I apt-get update my system it says "W: Failed to fetch http://mozilla.debian.net/dists/jessie-backports/Release Unable to find expected entry 'firefox-aurora/source/Sources' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file)"
Shadow_7 2017-02-27 01:12:18
g0zzy: localhost:631 and check cups?
duser 2017-02-27 01:12:37
how can i change hard ulimit ?
g0zzy 2017-02-27 01:12:58
Shadow_7: funny thing is Print to File is ok
Shadow_7 2017-02-27 01:13:29
g0zzy: file doesn't run out of paper or ink
Shadow_7 2017-02-27 01:13:57
duser: /etc/security/limits.conf or /etc/security/limits.d/ ???
g0zzy 2017-02-27 01:13:58
Well supplies are fine
themill 2017-02-27 01:16:04
g0zzy: you need to define sticking. What does cups actually say? Cups is good at logging things
Shadow_7 2017-02-27 01:16:13
g0zzy: have you tried the usuals? unplug replug printer? restart cups? restart hplip or other fancy driver things? Maybe the first unprinted job is too big or other issues.
LostSoul 2017-02-27 01:19:14
petn-randall: Netowrk is not working
LostSoul 2017-02-27 01:19:56
I mean on one that I've copied kernel
g0zzy 2017-02-27 01:21:15
Shadow_7: Thanks - i'll keep looking. I think the last attempt printed (it's remote)
petn-randall 2017-02-27 01:21:15
LostSoul: If you log into the machine, what do you see when running 'route -n' and 'ifconfig -a'? Also, what error message do you see in the logs?
Shadow_7 2017-02-27 01:21:15
recalling my old hp printer. Needed pnm2ppa to print, otherwise it would pretend, but nothing every printed. And just didn't work at all if the ink was too low, no real error saying give me ink / feed me seymour.
LostSoul 2017-02-27 01:22:25
petn-randall: There is no eth0 interface
LostSoul 2017-02-27 01:22:29
Only bond0
LostSoul 2017-02-27 01:22:44
Which is not even definied in /etc/network/interfaces
Shadow_7 2017-02-27 01:23:54
LostSoul: anything in dmesg to say why? missing firmware?
g0zzy 2017-02-27 01:23:58
Great. Thanks
LostSoul 2017-02-27 01:27:13
But on the other hand, why doesn't he see virtio device?
LostSoul 2017-02-27 01:28:49
Ok, I'm idiot
LostSoul 2017-02-27 01:28:53
Thank you!
jelly 2017-02-27 01:29:01
what was it
ivans 2017-02-27 01:31:48
Good Morning Please I would need to be contacted by someone responsible for https://lists.debian.org/debian-l10n-spanish.
ivans 2017-02-27 01:31:48
We have many problems because we inadvertently publish a private data of a person and we need to delete that message
BluesKaj 2017-02-27 01:34:55
anyone found a method to make google-chrome default on stretch? Tried various methods like "update-alternatives --config x-www-browser" or adding google-chrome-stable from /usr/bin and adding to /usr/share/applications, but nothing, and setting chrome as default browser in chrome settings doesn't change anything either.
BluesKaj 2017-02-27 01:37:03
sha yeah the symlink didn't work
Shadow_7 2017-02-27 01:37:06
which update-alternatives should manage...
BluesKaj 2017-02-27 01:37:14
Shadow_7,^
Shadow_7 2017-02-27 01:37:56
But you can manually manipulate if not using the packaging system or other issue. Otherwise #debian-next on oftc handles testing/stretch.
Shadow_7 2017-02-27 01:38:40
BluesKaj: a lot of times the last thing that does a thing becomes the default. Perhaps apt-get install --reinstall ???
BluesKaj 2017-02-27 01:40:13
Shadow_7, ls -l /etc/alternatives/x-www-browser shows chrome as default, but that doesn't seem to make it so
Shadow_7 2017-02-27 01:40:47
BluesKaj: so what is managing the browser launch?
missmbob 2017-02-27 01:40:47
BluesKaj: gnome?
DoberMann 2017-02-27 01:40:49
defaut brwoser can often be configured in your window manager (desktop environment)
missmbob 2017-02-27 01:41:18
BluesKaj: gnome-control-center->details->default applications
BluesKaj 2017-02-27 01:41:50
missmbob, kde
Shadow_7 2017-02-27 01:41:54
BluesKaj: update-menus ???
