CrazyTux: my guess is MX is a good choice. Like said: from what i have heard, never used it
CrazyTux 2017-02-23 20:52:13
ok
CrazyTux 2017-02-23 20:53:23
I used Linux Mint also. Sometime the sound volume gets reduced there for no obvious reason until I log in again.
CrazyTux 2017-02-23 20:53:39
I think Debian Stable won't have such problems.
squelch 2017-02-23 20:58:31
i dont know if it fixes the volume problem thou
squelch 2017-02-23 20:59:36
if you using mint why arent you at their irc network?
squelch 2017-02-23 21:04:05
motivational speech for suicidals?
n4dir1 2017-02-23 21:05:26
:-) just kidding anyway. imho the best is to stick to any ! distro and get the hang of it. Mainly if the question is only about distributions based on debian anyway
n4dir1 2017-02-23 21:06:39
in a debian channel i obviously consider debian to be a good choice :-)
squelch 2017-02-23 21:06:40
but you meantioned slackware
n4dir1 2017-02-23 21:07:13
well: i mentioned it. but if i wouldn't consider debian to be a good choice, i wouldn't be here
squelch 2017-02-23 21:08:19
you should work at an apple store
n4dir1 2017-02-23 21:08:57
and tell them how to install debian on their shiny new hardware?
squelch 2017-02-23 21:09:13
yes and void the warranty
squelch 2017-02-23 21:09:25
just give them your motivational speach
n4dir1 2017-02-23 21:09:51
i tried hard to get the hang of OS X , or however it is called, but it really is weird, imho
n4dir1 2017-02-23 21:10:52
so i went for debian.
CrazyTux 2017-02-23 21:11:38
is LMDE based on Debian Stable?
squelch 2017-02-23 21:12:05
no but its stable enough better then testing
squelch 2017-02-23 21:12:28
or at least it should be based on what they say on that page
CrazyTux 2017-02-23 21:15:11
ok
squelch 2017-02-23 21:15:26
you could also try steamOS its based on debian
CrazyTux 2017-02-23 21:15:49
Will check that.
squelch 2017-02-23 21:15:59
and its gets you games
CrazyTux 2017-02-23 21:17:08
I think it it primarily for games. I need a reliable OS for home and office use. I usually don't play games.
CrazyTux 2017-02-23 21:18:03
how is Deepin?
squelch 2017-02-23 21:18:12
based on your nick i would think otherwise
CrazyTux 2017-02-23 21:18:18
or deepin.
squelch 2017-02-23 21:18:55
buy the time you spending here you could be running all this distros already
CrazyTux 2017-02-23 21:19:24
ok
n4dir1 2017-02-23 21:19:44
yeah. And as far deepin is concerned: i for one would sure consider the userbase when it comes to selecting a distro. A big userbase means much help, which is good
squelch 2017-02-23 21:20:49
deepin has a huge user base since is based of china and you know there are plaenty of chinese
CrazyTux 2017-02-23 21:21:28
ok
n4dir1 2017-02-23 21:21:37
not sure if i would want to learn chinese to ask for support, but hey, why not
squelch 2017-02-23 21:22:38
you can tell deepin has a fairlly number of developers working on it
squelch 2017-02-23 21:23:26
you can tell they do pay attention to usability details
CrazyTux 2017-02-23 21:23:32
ok
