vita_cell2: also... grep \(EE\) /var/log/Xorg.0.log
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:45:45
Also for \(WW\)
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:46:27
vita_cell2: radeon driver, direct rendering: yes... you should be accelerated
vita_cell2 2017-02-28 18:46:51
no, 3d applications even won't run
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:47:13
vita_cell2: like $ glxgears -info
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:47:47
vita_cell2: perhaps you're missing freeglut3
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:48:15
didn't stop one game I play from running, but had extra pixels with it installed.
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:49:03
vita_cell2: for java, you might need the jogl packages, aka java open GL.
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:49:38
libjogl2-*

vita_cell2 2017-02-28 18:51:10
glxgears runs fine
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:51:15
vita_cell2: 3D apps should run, that's what mesa provides, software bits for 3D needs.
vita_cell2 2017-02-28 18:51:43
but it is software 3d rendering, so, my ati doewn't the work
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:53:36
There's always partian 3D in software. The (EE) stuff is odd. Are you not using a distro provided kernel?
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:54:20
drm for radeon burped. ...reverting to software... so slower, but should still function
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:55:21
Stuff like that happens if kernel, X, and mesa come from not distro packaged means. Or you're missing jessie-updates in your sources.list
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:56:09
dpkg sources.list
dpkg 2017-02-28 18:56:09
A suitable /etc/apt/sources.list for Debian 8 "Jessie" has three lines: "deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ jessie main" "deb http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates main" "deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ jessie-updates main". Be sure to run «aptitude update» after editing sources.list. Also see and "man sources.list".
vita_cell2 2017-02-28 18:56:16
Shadow_7 it is default kernel, it it 8.7 Debian with powerpc64 kernel
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:56:35
Is it a powerPC computer?
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:56:46
macintosh? hackintosh?
vita_cell2 2017-02-28 18:57:02
PowerMac7,3 G5 2004
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:57:26
I wouldn't expect much 3D acceleration from a 2004 computer
vita_cell2 2017-02-28 18:57:31
it is great machine, 2 CPUs and 8gb of ram
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:57:46
Or at least a 2004 GPU
vita_cell2 2017-02-28 18:58:05
I know, but it is ati 9600 pro with 256mb, still great for most free software games
vita_cell2 2017-02-28 18:58:40
so is it ati who works with 3d or CPU?
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 18:59:32
half and half? mesa kicks in when the hardware doesn't provide a function. But (EE) in Xorg.0.log might need some investigating.
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 19:00:06
that's direct render stuff, not digital rights
vita_cell2 2017-02-28 19:00:55
so what should I do?
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 19:01:17
google those lines from your logs
vita_cell2 2017-02-28 19:01:17
what happening with that? something is bugged right?
vita_cell2 2017-02-28 19:01:18
ok
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 19:01:22
You're probably not the only one with the issue
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 19:01:36
drm didn't like something
vita_cell2 2017-02-28 19:01:52
hope mesa devs fix that in the next builds for powerpc
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 19:01:55
Might need some fancy stuff like a different kernel.
vita_cell2 2017-02-28 19:02:28
anyway ubuntu12.04 LTS I had it worse, no 3d
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 19:03:14
When I first used my RPi B, raspbian didn't have software 3D. So I ran debian armel on that for the first year-ish
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 19:04:16
had to have my 11 fps glxgears... :)
Shadow_7 2017-02-28 19:04:39
now that raspbian has 3D, it gets 17 fps
usersiis 2017-02-28 19:07:51
what is going on?
neoweb 2017-02-28 19:15:08
