Hi folks
crash_ 2017-02-23 00:08:15
hey
{0}_{0} 2017-02-23 00:25:52
what is the shutdow-minator process?
{0}_{0} 2017-02-23 00:27:31
must be a firefox thing
jolt 2017-02-23 00:28:18
Wegg: You can switch with sudo update-alternatives --config x-window-manager if you have multiples
BluesKaj 2017-02-23 00:30:20
using google chrome but stretch/kde won't accept it as default browser in systems settings>applications (usr/bin/google-chrome).There isn't much on google search. It's an irritant more than a real problem, but a pita just the same.
tw 2017-02-23 00:30:38
"shutdown-minotar" actually sounds like a great name for a power management policy daemon
tw 2017-02-23 00:31:01
*minotaur
zykotick9 2017-02-23 00:32:26
BluesKaj: does "update-alternatives --config x-www-browser" (there also might be a kde-www-broswer?) list google-chrome (i assume not)...
jolt 2017-02-23 00:33:47
zykotick9: Mine does actually list /usr/bin/google-chrome-stable with that
domovoy_ 2017-02-23 00:33:52
hi
zykotick9 2017-02-23 00:34:04
jolt: ummm, good to know, thanks.
domovoy_ 2017-02-23 00:35:10
some checkup before i download the stuff: does the netinst cd ask what desktop environment i want? or does it install the default one? or do i have to install it manually?
babilen 2017-02-23 00:35:42
domovoy_: You can choose in the expert installer. Not sure if the non-expert one offers you a choice also (haven't used it in decades)
zykotick9 2017-02-23 00:35:47
domovoy_: the netinst give several different DE options (or none if you uncheck them all)
domovoy_ 2017-02-23 00:36:04
great, thanks
zykotick9 2017-02-23 00:36:27
babilen: the default netinst give several desktop options these days...
BluesKaj 2017-02-23 00:36:50
zykotick9, ok thanks , forgot about thay command ...Ill logout to see i it works
babilen 2017-02-23 00:37:00
zykotick9: As I only ever use the expert installer I have no idea which options you can choose if you use the standard one
domovoy_ 2017-02-23 00:37:25
so i can assume that if i use netinst and tell it i want xfce, i'll get the same thing as with the -xfce cd? (with the diff that packages will be downloaded)
babilen 2017-02-23 00:37:28
(and I would expect them to be a subset of the options offered during the expert installation)
zykotick9 2017-02-23 00:37:32
babilen: ya, the standard one has a "funny" selection for DEs actually? i hear it was a last minute addition.
babilen 2017-02-23 00:37:40
funny?
babilen 2017-02-23 00:38:00
dpkg: install xfce
dpkg 2017-02-23 00:38:00
To install on established systems, ask me about , then: «apt-get install xfce4 xfce4-goodies». To install using Debian-Installer (if not using Xfce CD-1): from the 'Software selection' dialog, choose "Xfce" (use space bar to toggle selections), then "Continue"; an Internet connection may be required to obtain these packages.
zykotick9 2017-02-23 00:38:08
i has "install default desktop" <- or similar, then selection for Gnome direction underneith it.
babilen 2017-02-23 00:38:16
Yeah, exactly
domovoy_ 2017-02-23 00:38:29
great, thanks
babilen 2017-02-23 00:38:38
Wasn't sure if that dialogue is also presented during the non-expert installation (which is why I qualified my statement)
tw 2017-02-23 00:44:24
that screen, `tasksel`, is in every install except automated, as far as I know.
babilen 2017-02-23 00:44:48
Great
babilen 2017-02-23 00:45:04
I only perform automated or expert installations
