im trying to compile nethack and it complains `lex` is missing, doing `apt-cache search '\' | grep '\'` i get 5 different entries so im a bit confused... can someone tell me which package (if any) provides lex?

siiky: can you be more specific? lex.h ?
loader 2017-02-27 13:27:19
siiky: you probably want the flex package

Shadow_7: no, its not a header, its a command

siiky: so apt-file find bin/lex ? looks like flex or flex-old meets the reqs

siiky: when a packaged version exists I recommend apt-get build-dep as a way to satisfy dependencies without much effort.

loader: (y) thank you, flex did it
siiky 2017-02-27 13:29:25

loader 2017-02-27 13:29:30
siiky: no problem

siiky: it's the magic that always brings me back to debian. ubuntu finally got a clue on 16.04+

siiky: pkgfile on arch or dnf don't quite have the same certainty
