missmbob 2017-02-26 04:03:12
coreutil: it's not released yet. it will be soonish
n4dir 2017-02-26 04:03:13
yes, from local server do : sshfs remote_server:directory /media/backup; or from local server do: rsync -auv remote_server:/ /media/backup
coreutil 2017-02-26 04:03:22
missmob, so I can safely use it for anythingß
coreutil 2017-02-26 04:03:23
?
n4dir 2017-02-26 04:03:24
to give the idea, it is not the correct syntax, i assume
coreutil 2017-02-26 04:03:33
missmbob^
missmbob 2017-02-26 04:03:38
coreutil: personal, definitely. production, no
pila 2017-02-26 04:03:55
thank you n4dir
n4dir 2017-02-26 04:04:04
good luck, pila
pila 2017-02-26 04:04:15
thats exactly what i was looking for
coreutil 2017-02-26 04:05:03
missmbob, great, so I can just switch to it via release upgrade?
missmbob 2017-02-26 04:05:14
!jessie-stretch
n4dir 2017-02-26 04:05:39
for ssh i would use: non-default port, fail2ban, disable root account if possible (probably not in this case), use keys for authentication and a config file in ~/.ssh (for comfort with all the securtiy stuff). pilo
missmbob 2017-02-26 04:05:42
coreutil: yeah, change jessie to stretch in sources.list then update then dist-upgrade
missmbob 2017-02-26 04:06:40
and wtf is every other factoid working but jessie-stretch?? i've tried three times
missmbob 2017-02-26 04:07:41
oh damn. missed >
coreutil 2017-02-26 04:12:32
should I select 'unstable' to download firefox?
missmbob 2017-02-26 04:12:56
coreutil: no no. go to packages.debian.org and download the deb manually. then dpkg -i foo.deb
missmbob 2017-02-26 04:13:18
coreutil: do that only *after* you've upgraded to stretch
babilen 2017-02-26 04:14:18
dpkg: ssm
dpkg 2017-02-26 04:14:19
«echo 'APT::Default-Release "stretch";' >> /etc/apt/apt.conf», edit sources.list, copy your non-security stretch lines and change one set to sid, then apt-get update. apt-get -t sid install foo; to install foo from sid rather than stretch as usual. WARNING to SYNAPTIC users: Synaptic ignores Default-Release: set Preferences->Distribution. See and use this setup to track after its release.
babilen 2017-02-26 04:14:35
coreutil: ^ would be an option also (apt -t sid install firefox)
missmbob 2017-02-26 04:15:11
coreutil: here's the deb assuming you're on amd64 http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/f/firefox/firefox_51.0.1-3_amd64.deb
coreutil 2017-02-26 04:19:21
missmbob, is 'sid' not meaning 'unstable' ?
coreutil 2017-02-26 04:19:57
https://www.debian.org/releases/sid/
missmbob 2017-02-26 04:20:58
coreutil: yes. the reason firefox isnt in stretch is because it's frozen. it cant get in. doesnt mean that firefox isnt okay
missmbob 2017-02-26 04:23:43
coreutil: no one is telling you to upgrade to sid/unstable. just firefox if you want
veek 2017-02-26 04:23:43
does debian have a tool for installs via the distro itself. eg: i run a standard debian install (i386) on usb so can i walk to another machine and install on that? (amd64)
coreutil 2017-02-26 04:23:43
missmbob, I have no problem with firefox in jessie. my question was about nixnote install
pila 2017-02-26 04:23:43
n4dir i installed sshfs and want to connect to my server. i made an entry in ~/.ssh/config with my path to private key and it still prompts me for a password :/ connecting via ssh to the same server i dont need a password
coreutil 2017-02-26 04:23:43
since I was replied that it worked in nixnote, I checked and saw that firefox was not yet in stretch
coreutil 2017-02-26 04:23:43
sorry, nixnote worked in stretch, I mean
coreutil 2017-02-26 04:23:43
but if firefox would also be fine, as you said, I can try it
coreutil 2017-02-26 04:23:43
so I will only need to change sources list?
missmbob 2017-02-26 04:24:03
coreutil: sources.list. from jessie to stretch
Xorin_5s5 2017-02-26 04:24:10
How can I see what keyboard layout I'm using and how can I change it
dvs 2017-02-26 04:24:55
!tell coreutil about release notes
dvs 2017-02-26 04:25:15
oh nvm
n4dir 2017-02-26 04:25:51
pila: not sure how the settings on the remote ssh-server need to be to first ask for the passphrase of the key. Let me upload my ~/.ssh/config , so you can compare.
n4dir 2017-02-26 04:26:20
http://sprunge.us/jNaF
coreutil 2017-02-26 04:26:46
and without altering security lines in sources list, right?
missmbob 2017-02-26 04:27:20
coreutil: change it to stretch. wont do anything for now but it'll kick in right before release
R2AMO 2017-02-26 04:27:24
coreutil have you helloworlded today ?
coreutil 2017-02-26 04:27:45
I helloworld everyday
missmbob 2017-02-26 04:29:01
coreutil: so then apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade;reboot and come back
R2AMO 2017-02-26 04:29:15
i downloaded debian-stretch-DI-rc2-amd64-netinst.iso but mirror.yandex.ru repo still doesn't work
pila 2017-02-26 04:29:54
n4dir mhh... i still get prompted for a password :/
n4dir 2017-02-26 04:31:10
pila: sorry, i can't come up with a good idea right now. Perhaps share the command you used
pila 2017-02-26 04:31:40
i think its a permission problem
warrshrike 2017-02-26 04:40:09
i installed llvm-3.5 with apt-get
warrshrike 2017-02-26 04:40:12
now I need to set LLVM_HOME variable
warrshrike 2017-02-26 04:40:16
but i cant figure out where apt-get installed it
warrshrike 2017-02-26 04:40:18
any idea?
dvs 2017-02-26 04:40:52
warrshrike, dpkg -L llvm
veek 2017-02-26 04:41:33
