sharp15: jwm is usable and light. IceWM I used for a long time. Now I use cwm.
nikitasius 2017-02-26 21:58:12
i had 4Gb ram with debian 8 and it was comfortable (except Java dev). with 8Gb im happy, but when you buy a memory, buy exactly the same (model number). I have 2 modules with same numbers (i.e. brand/model/freq/density 100% exact)
sharp15 2017-02-26 21:58:58
Shadow_7: i'll look. i was thinking LXDE or XFCE. but i'm not sure how either of them are doing.
nikitasius 2017-02-26 21:59:18
sharp15: me personally love xfce...
sharp15 2017-02-26 21:59:23
nikitasius: thanks for the tip.
nikitasius 2017-02-26 21:59:29
but i was long time on gnome-classic
nikitasius 2017-02-26 21:59:53
till years ago ubuntu killed itself on update from 10 to 12. so no more ubuntu on laptops - debian only
Shadow_7 2017-02-26 22:00:11
cwm basically lets you do all the usual window things with hotkeys. The only decorations is a 1px border on running things. So much space without a taskbar. dmenu_run if you need something akin to a menu.
nikitasius 2017-02-26 22:03:15
Shadow_7: they still had gnome on ubuntu, gnome-classic called
nikitasius 2017-02-26 22:03:42
but i use debian on servers and.. finally i love it more that ubuntu.
Shadow_7 2017-02-26 22:04:22
back then ubuntu made it difficult to use any wm/de that was the default. Things broke, like your ability to use usb-storage devices.
Shadow_7 2017-02-26 22:04:55
back when an 8GB stick cost $45+
nikitasius 2017-02-26 22:05:09
`wm/de` ?
Shadow_7 2017-02-26 22:05:20
window manager / desktop environmnet
nikitasius 2017-02-26 22:05:23

nikitasius 2017-02-26 22:05:48
debian works great. even i plugged iphone 6 of my wife and debian got it :)
Shadow_7 2017-02-26 22:06:27
debian is great, you can switch wm's and nothing breaks (most of the time).
nikitasius 2017-02-26 22:07:32

nikitasius 2017-02-26 22:09:06

nikitasius 2017-02-26 22:14:38
n4dir: thanks. need to prepare keepassx file for client. finally i tuned his server and, thanks holy nginx, how 1Gb database WP work fast now on smaller VPS.
nikitasius 2017-02-26 22:15:29
people sometimes install tonns of shit in their systems and when you ask them `why you have that?` they answer you `idk..`
n4dir 2017-02-26 22:15:50
lol. yup
Wzup 2017-02-26 22:16:45
If I use QEMU directly from host or inside a debian virtual machine, what would have highest security? I don't understand but running QEMU directly from host feels so naked.
oiaohm 2017-02-26 22:22:32
Wzup: very had question https://kashyapc.com/2012/01/14/nested-virtualization-with-kvm-intel/ There is also the question if kvm is in the mix nested as well.
oiaohm 2017-02-26 22:22:38
Wzup: very had question/ Very hard question.
