any debconf specialists around? :)
themill 2017-02-03 02:51:11
hoobaman: putting keys into the db doesn't mean that the maintainer scripts are going to use them
hoobaman 2017-02-03 02:52:01
themill: ok, makes sense, so i need to rebuild the package with an adapted template in order to use them right?
usrxy 2017-02-03 02:52:33
hii
usrxy 2017-02-03 02:52:43
i installed debian but there is problem with screens
themill 2017-02-03 02:53:09
hoobaman: maintainer script more likely than template
hoobaman 2017-02-03 02:54:16
themill: ok thx, will have a look
babilen 2017-02-03 02:59:27
Hmm, I'm having problems accessing security.debian.org on 212.211.132.32 from multiple hosts - Any way to get around this and have it pick another server?
somiaj 2017-02-03 03:01:00
babilen: only way I can think of is put an entry in your sources.list (I don't thik I've seen alternatives for s.d.o mirrors listed)
somiaj 2017-02-03 03:01:12
babilen: security.debian.org (128.101.240.215) -- that is the one I get resolved to
somiaj 2017-02-03 03:01:47
babilen: from mirror-umn2.debian.org -- there is a host name
babilen 2017-02-03 03:02:03
It's done with DNS aliases ... I'm seeing this on a couple of hundreds nodes
somiaj 2017-02-03 03:02:03
babilen: arg I mean entry in /etc/hosts -- but tehre is a mirror name that might work.
babilen 2017-02-03 03:02:12
Ah .. it started to resolve to a different IP now
klys 2017-02-03 03:02:16
a couple hundred ip addresses aren't serving http ?
babilen 2017-02-03 03:02:43
klys: From a bunch of different hosts (that all try to contact the same, broken, sec.d.o mirror)
klys 2017-02-03 03:02:49

anybody knows whether there's a minimum -march option one could set in a debian rules file when building for amd64 target?
jelly 2017-02-03 03:06:04
wiking: natively? You probably don't have to specify it at all?
wiking 2017-02-03 03:07:26
jelly, well my presumption is that 64bit x86 processors would have at least some instructions
wiking 2017-02-03 03:07:30
like mmx etc
jelly 2017-02-03 03:08:16
https://wiki.debian.org/DebianAMD64Faq "gcc will automatically target a 64-bit system. You can add -m32 to get a 32-bit executable."
jelly 2017-02-03 03:08:55
wiking: SSE and whatever's in definition of amd64 will automatically get used by gcc
wiking 2017-02-03 03:09:14
mmm i'm not sure about that actually
wiking 2017-02-03 03:09:15
:)
wiking 2017-02-03 03:18:39
jelly, just checked with gcc -Q --help=target|grep
wiking 2017-02-03 03:18:42
everything is disabled
wiking 2017-02-03 03:23:01
jelly, nevermind... found some other comments in the gcc docs. thnx
jelly 2017-02-03 03:23:22
hhmm that shouldn't be
jelly 2017-02-03 03:23:24
ah
Digital 2017-02-03 03:45:14
the installer doesn't work well when installing to a device with a gpt partition table
