hi guys
hoobaman 2017-02-03 01:45:48
can i introduce new debconf values for an automated noniteractive install ?
hoobaman 2017-02-03 01:46:12
or am i bound the the existing values?
CeBe 2017-02-03 01:49:34
hoobaman: have not done that before but should be possible with dpkg-preconfigure
hoobaman 2017-02-03 01:50:42
CeBe: thx for your reply, really appreciated :) I will check dpkg-preconfigure
AndreeeCZ 2017-02-03 02:08:19
hello! I'm trying to install debian on a MarsBoardA20. From what i've been told, it's "basically the same" as a CubieTruck, so i'm installing that. However during the install process, the board fails to connect to DHCP. Does this mean that propably its not "basically the same" ?
petn-randall 2017-02-03 02:12:01
AndreeeCZ: Do you otherwise have working network via DHCP?
AndreeeCZ 2017-02-03 02:12:08
petn-randall, yes
petn-randall 2017-02-03 02:13:17
AndreeeCZ: Is that wifi or Ethernet?
AndreeeCZ 2017-02-03 02:13:59
petn-randall, ethernet
AndreeeCZ 2017-02-03 02:14:40
its one of the first installation steps
petn-randall 2017-02-03 02:16:08
AndreeeCZ: You could try the non-free installer, maybe it's missing firmware for Ethernet to function.
AndreeeCZ 2017-02-03 02:16:46
petn-randall, where's the non-free installer?
petn-randall 2017-02-03 02:16:54
!firmware installer
dpkg 2017-02-03 02:16:54
Debian-Installer is able to load additional , by including it within installation media or supplying on removable media (e.g. USB stick, floppy). See http://www.debian.org/releases/jessie/amd64/ch06s04 . To include firmware within Debian images, see http://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/NetbootFirmware . See also .

!firmware imagse

dpkg 2017-02-03 02:17:08

petn-randall 2017-02-03 02:17:17
Got it right this time, haha
petn-randall 2017-02-03 02:17:23
AndreeeCZ: see above
AndreeeCZ 2017-02-03 02:20:30
petn-randall, i dont think it applies, i'm following this article https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/Allwinner
petn-randall 2017-02-03 02:21:36
AndreeeCZ: You could switch to one of the other terminals and check with 'dmesg' where the problem is.
petn-randall 2017-02-03 02:21:44
AndreeeCZ: Maybe the NIC isn't supported yet.
AndreeeCZ 2017-02-03 02:23:48
i'm installing over serial
AndreeeCZ 2017-02-03 02:24:05
so i don't think i can do something like ctrl+alt+f3
CeBe 2017-02-03 02:38:13
themill: the final apt-get dist-upgrade went fine now and the systems is up to date and running. Thanks for your help!
themill 2017-02-03 02:39:04
np. not sure what you really saw on that system though
CeBe 2017-02-03 02:40:05
yeah, I have reported the issue, maybe someone sees something obvious that can be fixed. if not they can close it
themill 2017-02-03 02:40:20
Could you follow up with what fixed it for you?
hoobaman 2017-02-03 02:40:28
i introduced new values in my debconf template, they are visible in debconfig-show, however a dpkg-reconfigure -f noniteractive does not create a valid config with the new values
hoobaman 2017-02-03 02:40:35
what am i missing?
CeBe 2017-02-03 02:41:03
themill: I just repeated apt-get install -f and apt-get dist-upgrade again.
themill 2017-02-03 02:41:28
CeBe: yep, can you email that to the bug, perhaps including the logs from doing so?
CeBe 2017-02-03 02:41:44
oh, sure
themill 2017-02-03 02:42:23
thanks!
