So.. my ssh connection died in the middle of a dist-upgrade, now apt has finished running and apt-get install -f suggests nothing to do except it lists maybe 2 dozen packages, a lot of which are perl libs, that were "automatically installed and no longer needed"
buu_ 2017-02-03 21:59:19
Including libperl4-corelibs-perl ??
at0m 2017-02-03 22:06:42
buu: that would be "apt-get -f install". if it completes ok, that means apt-get had finished its upgrade.
at0m 2017-02-03 22:07:04
when in doubt, re-run apt-get dist-upgrade
buu 2017-02-03 22:09:23

Trying to learn virtualization and others to discover the world of sysadmin. I'am on my laptop using KVM following https://wiki.debian.org/KVM, should I prefer an (lightweight?) iso than an other one? (If you have good tutos or links on the subject, fire up!)

I am having trouble connecting to the "unitimedia wifispot"s with debian jessie, while my android phone seems to have no problems
ztealmax 2017-02-03 22:37:01
Good day to you all :)
Iridos 2017-02-03 22:37:47
according to their site, it's peap / ttls the setup is here in the config: http://paste.debian.net/912746/
Iridos 2017-02-03 22:38:55
(I've moved and they have a program people can share into other of their customers wifis with mobile devices… so I hope this will give me *some* net until I get internet in the new apartment)
Iridos 2017-02-03 22:39:10
(and that's why it's a complicated tunneled protocol)
Iridos 2017-02-03 22:39:27
any idea if support for those in jessie is maybe not yet there or something?
budfox 2017-02-03 22:39:33
Why is there no recent Node package for Jessie?
bazhang 2017-02-03 22:39:50
node.js?
Iridos 2017-02-03 22:40:08
budfox, because stable never gets any new versions… that's why it's "stable"
budfox 2017-02-03 22:41:21
bazhang: Yep
budfox 2017-02-03 22:41:33
Iridos: Sorry that doesn't make any sense lol
bazhang 2017-02-03 22:41:44
what version did you need
Iridos 2017-02-03 22:41:44
dpkg, stable
dpkg 2017-02-03 22:41:45
[stable] The status of a Debian release when no packages will be added, new versions introduced and changes will only fix security issues and critical bugs. Packages can be removed in rare circumstances. The current stable version of Debian is Jessie (8.7); ask me about . Security bugs are fixed in stable by backporting the fix to the stable version (ask me about ). https://wiki.debian.org/DebianStable
Iridos 2017-02-03 22:42:16
that makes a lot of sensse for a lot of people. nolol

budfox 2017-02-03 22:42:26
Well anyway I found http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/207591/how-to-install-latest-nodejs-on-debian-jessie
budfox 2017-02-03 22:42:58
OpenBSD stable gets packages all the time https://stable.mtier.org/ I think?
