#debian channel featuring Digital, dTal, tw, mtn_, cfkane, toogley1,

cfkane 2017-02-02 05:45:18
tw: I'll try both. I'm just ignorant in Linux routing commands. thx!
tw 2017-02-02 05:46:08
if your standalones are getting IP addresses from the server over DHCP, you can probably set the network and default route in the dhcp server config.
toogley1 2017-02-02 06:10:12
are opened ports specific for every user?
dTal 2017-02-02 06:10:55
toogley1: no, network interface
toogley1 2017-02-02 06:11:14
dTal: ah, okay. thanks
Digital 2017-02-02 06:33:43
what's the best filesystem for a bootable usb stick?
mtn_ 2017-02-02 06:34:38
Digital: do you mean you are putting an iso on the stick?
Digital 2017-02-02 06:35:22
I'm going to install debian on an usb drive, which means i put a debian installer on stick a and then install on stick b
mtn_ 2017-02-02 06:35:57
Digital: no file system is needed when you are going to put the iso on the disk. it will be wiped out by the iso
basic6_ 2017-02-02 06:36:49
a debian 8 system suddenly shut down unexpectedly and syslog does not end with an error message, any other places to look for clues?
Digital 2017-02-02 06:37:16
stick a will be wiped out but I'll create root, boot and home partitions on stick b. I want a normal system running on a usb stick
mtn_ 2017-02-02 06:37:45
Digital: ok, so you are talking about installing debian on an usb stick, not putting the iso on it?
Digital 2017-02-02 06:38:27
I'm talking about installing debian on a usb stick just like i'd install it on a hard drive
mtn_ 2017-02-02 06:38:43
Digital: then ext4 would be default
Digital 2017-02-02 06:39:17
I heard that ext4 isnt' good for usb flash drives
mtn_ 2017-02-02 06:40:24
Digital: where did you "hear" that?
Digital 2017-02-02 06:41:51
mtn_, this server, I don't remember the channel
missmbob 2017-02-02 06:43:56
ext4 is perfectly fine.
Digital 2017-02-02 06:44:55
okay, just wanted to be sure. thanks ^.^
