babilen 2017-02-02 00:21:49
_aeris_: I'd suggest using deb.debian.org
babilen 2017-02-02 00:21:55
dpkg: deb.debian.org
dpkg 2017-02-02 00:21:55
deb.debian.org is a mirror network that is backed by international content delivery networks and for most users, this is the most reliable to use in the . From Debian 9 "Stretch" onwards, apt queries SRV records in DNS which then send it off to a CDN. Older apt will get an HTTP redirect from deb.debian.org to the same CDNs. See http://deb.debian.org/ for more details.
Vizva 2017-02-02 00:21:58
its a substitute
Vizva 2017-02-02 00:22:22
if you write httpredir there i think i will not work
_aeris_ 2017-02-02 00:23:48
will try :)
Vizva 2017-02-02 00:24:59
they write this for an example , thats a classic "dont show it this way"
sideup66 2017-02-02 00:25:27
Anyone know if debian stretch will be samba 3 or is it but numbered differently? Jessie shows 2.x and same for stretch... I ask because I don't know in those builds if the server will support encrypted connections
sideup66 2017-02-02 00:25:54
And with some Os's now requiring it I'd like to make sure my boxes can still talk to it
sideup66 2017-02-02 00:26:43
dpkg: samba
dpkg 2017-02-02 00:26:43
Samba is a Unix implementation of Windows file/print sharing (the SMB/CIFS protocol). http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/ http://samba.org/samba/docs/ http://wiki.samba.org/ #samba on irc.freenode.net. See also .
sypher 2017-02-02 00:34:49
sideup66: It's actually samba4. Samba is just a metapackage.
Digital 2017-02-02 00:35:09
you know you screwed up when you pass "-o 'Dpkg::force-depends' -o 'Dpkg::force-overwrite'" to apt
sypher 2017-02-02 00:35:15
sideup66: The actual samba libraries are v4.
sypher 2017-02-02 00:35:48
4.2, specifically.
sideup66 2017-02-02 00:39:17
sypher is that also in Jessie?
sideup66 2017-02-02 00:39:37
Or will that be in stretch?
futurama140 2017-02-02 00:39:43
annadane: sort of works
sypher 2017-02-02 00:39:45
sideup66: Rather, 4.2 is in jessie, yes. I'd be shocked to see a version decrease. :P
sypher 2017-02-02 00:40:13
,v samba-common
judd 2017-02-02 00:40:14

sypher 2017-02-02 00:40:20
4.4 in stretch.
sypher 2017-02-02 00:40:27
Orr.... 4.5, possibly.
Digital 2017-02-02 00:42:34
that may sound dumb. how do i use a debian pure blend?
