squigz 2017-02-01 11:45:24
If that was in the list of packages you sent me, yes
Atm0spher1c 2017-02-01 11:45:30
I just formatted a usb as both ext4 and then ext2. When attempting to mount on another machine I keep getting mount: unknown filesystem type 'ext2'. Could I be missing a package or something?
tomcres 2017-02-01 11:45:44
OK, which window manager/desktop environment are you running?
squigz 2017-02-01 11:45:48
tomcres: i3
squigz 2017-02-01 11:46:02
Mmm. I am running i3-gaps, a fork
squigz 2017-02-01 11:46:05
I'll try i3
tomcres 2017-02-01 11:46:11
shoot, that shouldn't require anything NEAR 20 terabytes lol
squigz 2017-02-01 11:46:34
Of course
squigz 2017-02-01 11:46:42
And it's constantly at 20TB, even immediatley after launching
squigz 2017-02-01 11:47:27
Okay it's a problem with i3-gaps
squigz 2017-02-01 11:47:34
I just switched back to normal i3 and it's fine
tomcres 2017-02-01 11:47:49
could be a memory leak in the i3-gaps code
squigz 2017-02-01 11:48:01
That's a pretty bad leak :P
squigz 2017-02-01 11:48:16
tomcres: thanks for the help :)
tomcres 2017-02-01 11:48:30
no prob. at least you have an up-to-date graphics stack anyway.
squigz 2017-02-01 11:48:34
lol yeah
Atm0spher1c 2017-02-01 11:48:37
that's too bad, I was planning to build i3-gaps
squigz 2017-02-01 11:48:53
Atm0spher1c: it's an old build, it could be updated by now
squigz 2017-02-01 11:49:09
I'd give it a shot, the features are nice
Iridos 2017-02-01 11:49:34
you have 20TB ram?
squigz 2017-02-01 11:49:41
No
tw 2017-02-01 11:50:12
vss is not actually real, it's just what it requested.
squigz 2017-02-01 11:51:03
Why would that cause crashes when I try to launch videos?
Iridos 2017-02-01 11:51:03
maybe just a peek into the future…
teraflops 2017-02-01 11:51:52
Iridos: nah
Iridos 2017-02-01 11:52:24
you just wait… the time will come when 20TB ram for a window manager will be seen as reasonable
tomcres 2017-02-01 11:52:26
i dunno. maybe it's messing up the window manager's memory map and it's having trouble allocating RAM
squigz 2017-02-01 11:52:45
Iridos: A couple TB, maybe :P
tomcres 2017-02-01 11:53:00
iridos a tiling window manager at that!
Iridos 2017-02-01 11:53:05
:D
squigz 2017-02-01 11:53:07
hah, apparently
Iridos 2017-02-01 11:53:49
just remember that everything used to fit in to 640K… and into 64K shortly before that 25ish years ago… and where we are now
teraflops 2017-02-01 11:53:56
bah if you run i3gaps you deserve all evil :D
squigz 2017-02-01 11:54:18
teraflops: rude :P
tomcres 2017-02-01 11:54:25
my first computer had 2K of RAM
squigz 2017-02-01 11:54:26
It works for my specific use case
squigz 2017-02-01 11:54:33
I have trouble seeing the outer edges of my monitors
teraflops 2017-02-01 11:54:48
sorry but whats the point of having gaps in a tilling wm…
squigz 2017-02-01 11:55:00
Outer gaps, for me
squigz 2017-02-01 11:55:05
inner gaps are stupid
Atm0spher1c 2017-02-01 11:56:44
any idea on this lame error - mount: unknown filesystem type 'ext2'
TomTomTo1 2017-02-01 11:57:01
i3 has borders and a bar at the top of windows too.
Atm0spher1c 2017-02-01 11:57:29
those can be hidden
squigz 2017-02-01 11:57:45
I have 1px borders and actually 2 status bars
squigz 2017-02-01 11:57:54
1 on top for time and date, workspace list, and system tray
squigz 2017-02-01 11:58:02
Bottom is blank, but used for scrolling between workspaces
teraflops 2017-02-01 11:59:29
squigz: anyway where does it say is using 20 TB here? squigz 1493 0.0 6.3 21475042400 249364 tty1 S Jan25 3:45 \_ x-window-manager -a --restart
squigz 2017-02-01 11:59:40
21475042400
teraflops 2017-02-01 11:59:45
ugh nope
squigz 2017-02-01 11:59:58
Htop also says '20.0T'
squigz 2017-02-01 12:00:12
Sorry, I'm not knowledgeable in memory and proccess and whatnot
sts 2017-02-01 12:00:57
are there any debian vagrant images which 'just boot'? (so including the virtualbox tools)
sts 2017-02-01 12:01:25
*stretch - i forgot to add.
Redfoxmoon 2017-02-01 12:05:27
Is the old homepage for dash down and gone for good, or is it just temporarily down?
aypea[1] 2017-02-01 12:06:13
hi. what package name would I give to reportbug to report a problem with the installer?
aypea[1] 2017-02-01 12:06:55
debian-installer ?
aypea[1] 2017-02-01 12:07:43
hrm
aypea[1] 2017-02-01 12:07:49
nope
Iridos 2017-02-01 12:08:28
yes
teraflops 2017-02-01 12:08:28
aypea[1]: https://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/Bugs
aypea[1] 2017-02-01 12:12:24
teraflops: thanks. led me to seeing that someone already reported the same asstertion failure.
aypea[1] 2017-02-01 12:12:46
in 2014! whoa
aypea[1] 2017-02-01 12:14:51
and... woo. same result. UI hang
aypea[1] 2017-02-01 12:17:35
and installer's useless now. bloop.
teraflops 2017-02-01 12:19:29
aypea[1]: if you really cannot use the installer because a bug, try deboostrap I think
aypea[1] 2017-02-01 12:20:24
teraflops: don't know yet. this is the first time I've hit something like this. just rebooted and am going to play a bit more with it
aypea[1] 2017-02-01 12:24:01
good god. I remmebered how to set up a vlan with the ip command. my brain must be /so/ broken.
tw 2017-02-01 12:43:35
Is there a command I can use to revoke or expire user-logon keys in the kernel keyring after they have left my session?
tw 2017-02-01 12:44:05
In (overly verbose) example: https://paste.debian.net/912331/
