I have Jessie installed on my raspberry pi, how do I open a port on this machine?
zykotick9 2017-02-02 19:21:57
bkeys: is this actually raspbian? is so, they've got there own channel. there is no default firewall rules in debian, you you don't "open a port" you just run the service... good luck.
zykotick9 2017-02-02 19:22:14
s/you you/so you/
bkeys 2017-02-02 19:22:22
Well I would think that opening the firewall would be the same in either distro
bkeys 2017-02-02 19:22:47
But I am getting a "connection refused" error when I curl port 5000, this is not because of a firewall?
zykotick9 2017-02-02 19:23:12
!raspbian
dpkg 2017-02-02 19:23:12
Raspbian is a distribution made specifically for the . Raspbian is not Debian and it is not supported in #debian. Please use #raspbian on irc.freenode.net for support. http://www.raspbian.org/

I mean I get that but I figure that opening a firewall port might be the same
bkeys 2017-02-02 19:24:07
How would you open the port in Debian?
themill 2017-02-02 19:24:12
You don't
bkeys 2017-02-02 19:24:33
What is the service called for the firewall?
themill 2017-02-02 19:24:43
ask #raspbian
bkeys 2017-02-02 19:24:52
