BluesKaj 2017-03-06 01:46:07
zxd, just the command for the OS in use , lsb_release -a
zxd 2017-03-06 01:47:07
BluesKaj: need something like os-prober
n4dir 2017-03-06 01:49:06
i don't think there is a portable way to do that.
BluesKaj 2017-03-06 01:50:28
zxd, guess you answered your own question
inviz 2017-03-06 01:52:29
hi. has anyone done KVM stuff on stretch? how do you install new guest? same virt-install ?
Psy-Q 2017-03-06 01:58:30
inviz: i've only used it with virt-manager and exported the xml with virsh. but that works
inviz 2017-03-06 01:59:00
even virt-manager command not found, I think I am missing some package.
Psy-Q 2017-03-06 01:59:16
hm. it's just "virt-manager" for me
inviz 2017-03-06 01:59:16
as per one mailing list, I had to install two separate instead of one virt-bin
Psy-Q 2017-03-06 01:59:21
just make sure the user is in the right groups
Psy-Q 2017-03-06 01:59:51
"libvirt" and "libvirt-qemu" and "kvm", it seems
inviz 2017-03-06 02:00:15
ok I see, apt-get install virt-manager offers me let me count...244 packages
Psy-Q 2017-03-06 02:00:24
heh
jelly 2017-03-06 02:00:27
judd: file bin/virt-manager --release stretch
Psy-Q 2017-03-06 02:00:28
then yeah, maybe some bits were missing :)
judd 2017-03-06 02:00:31
Search for bin/virt-manager in stretch/amd64: virt-manager: usr/bin/virt-manager
inviz 2017-03-06 02:00:39
i wonder if this is the way to install now
Psy-Q 2017-03-06 02:00:50
only if you want a gui i'd think
inviz 2017-03-06 02:00:59
well i do not
inviz 2017-03-06 02:01:09
wait no gui, no
Psy-Q 2017-03-06 02:01:24
ah, ok. sorry. so well, it works for me with the gui is what i meant :)
Psy-Q 2017-03-06 02:01:26
and that's in virt-manager
j4ckcom 2017-03-06 02:02:06
how can i install nmtui?
j4ckcom 2017-03-06 02:02:09
:)
j4ckcom 2017-03-06 02:04:23
help me debian super specialist 😥
jelly 2017-03-06 02:04:38
j4ckcom: search for the package containing nmtui binary
j4ckcom 2017-03-06 02:04:55
oh yeah what is package name?
j4ckcom 2017-03-06 02:05:01
jelly: :)
jelly 2017-03-06 02:05:05
j4ckcom: /msg dpkg search
Nazara 2017-03-06 02:05:48
is anyone else running testing and now unable to get a dhcp lease?
jelly 2017-03-06 02:05:52
j4ckcom: do an "apt-cache search nmtui" for a start. If that gives no results, try asking the bot: /msg judd file bin/nmtui
inviz 2017-03-06 02:05:54
Psy-Q: so after that i have virt-install now, so thanks.
inviz 2017-03-06 02:06:26
however it is version 1.4.0 if I check other virt- packages they are version 3.0
JohnA 2017-03-06 02:07:07
Nazara: yes.
Nazara 2017-03-06 02:07:22
JohnA: oh good it's definitely not me then
j4ckcom 2017-03-06 02:09:05
sudo apt-get install network-manager <— jelly ok?
RebelCoder 2017-03-06 02:09:07
guys, just in general, which is the fastest, most lightweight desktop I can install on Debian ?
RebelCoder 2017-03-06 02:09:19
LXQT or OpenBox ? Correct ?
jelly 2017-03-06 02:09:26
j4ckcom: if that's the package containing that command, yes
j4ckcom 2017-03-06 02:09:42
🤣
setra 2017-03-06 02:09:57
hid3, right for networking issues
jelly 2017-03-06 02:10:01
RebelCoder: openbox isn't really a desktop, I think it's a window manager
RebelCoder 2017-03-06 02:10:36
Hmm... ok then... then it is LXDE or LXQt (from unstable)
RebelCoder 2017-03-06 02:10:39
Correct ?
jelly 2017-03-06 02:10:48
,i razorqt
judd 2017-03-06 02:10:49
Package razorqt (metapackages, optional) in jessie/amd64: Lightweight desktop environment, all components. Version: 0.5.2-4; Size: 7.5k; Installed: 41k; Homepage: http://razor-qt.org/
jelly 2017-03-06 02:11:05
that seems to be a desktop environment utilizing openbox
setra 2017-03-06 02:12:27
I have a debian server jessie as "man in the middle" between 2 LAN's like inetA->routerA->NetA->[JESSIE8]<-NetB<-routerB<-inetB , and I can not ping from any machine from A -> B or vice versa, even if I have ipforward enabled on debian
bezaban 2017-03-06 02:13:23
setra: do you have routes both ways on the machines you are pinging to/from?
jelly 2017-03-06 02:13:29
setra: machines on inetA and inetB segments probably need routes for the other network set in some way.
jelly 2017-03-06 02:13:57
be it default routes, or explicit ones for the other segment
jelly 2017-03-06 02:15:16
oh, you have routers in between as well
asterismo 2017-03-06 02:15:38
hi
jelly 2017-03-06 02:15:44
that means [JESSIE8] also needs routes defined for inetA and inetB segments
asterismo 2017-03-06 02:15:57
is there anyway to update PHP to versio 7 in Debian 8 Jessie?
asterismo 2017-03-06 02:16:02
like an official repo?
setra 2017-03-06 02:16:54
jelly, I have in both routers static routes for gateway of other net and on the debian server the following http://paste.debian.net/918357/
CeBe 2017-03-06 02:18:30
asterismo: afaik there are no backports yet
setra 2017-03-06 02:18:35
so if I ping on network A (192.168.0.0) the debian server network card A (192.168.0.16) ->it works also it works if I ping the network card B on the server (192.168.2.16). I get a positiv ping back
CeBe 2017-03-06 02:18:45
asterismo: https://packages.debian.org/search?suite=jessie-backports&searchon=names&keywords=php7.0
CeBe 2017-03-06 02:19:13
asterismo: I am compiling it myself
inviz 2017-03-06 02:21:08
the package i had to install was "virtinst" just fyi Psy-Q
JohnA 2017-03-06 02:21:33
Nazara: check /etc/network/interfaces has auto xxxxx where xxxxx is the name of your interface. I found that the line autp xxxx was missing. I am not sure that it has solved the problem as I don't diconnect that often.
asterismo 2017-03-06 02:21:39
thanks CeBe
JohnA 2017-03-06 02:23:34
Nazara: just tried to hw disconnect/connect doesn't seem to make any difference?
Nazara 2017-03-06 02:28:06
JohnA: using network manager
Nazara 2017-03-06 02:28:28
JohnA: it's happening on both wifi and en, but works when I static
JohnA 2017-03-06 02:35:29
Nazara: samew here
JohnA 2017-03-06 02:37:43
Nazara, I have been using wicd which seems to work for both wifi and wired.
JohnA 2017-03-06 02:39:05
Nazara, but I cannot get it to just connect on its own. I need to reinstall perhaps that might fix problem.
