Hello,
tobiasBora 2017-03-06 23:01:37
I'd like to install CUDA on my debian to proceed fast blender computations. However on NVIDIA website I cannot find a debian version, only an ubuntu version. Shall I use it ?
babilen 2017-03-06 23:03:27
tobiasBora: We typically recommend to install nvidia drivers from the repository.
babilen 2017-03-06 23:03:32
judd: v nvidia-cuda-dev
judd 2017-03-06 23:03:33
Package: nvidia-cuda-dev on amd64 -- wheezy/non-free: 4.2.9-2; wheezy-backports/non-free: 5.5.22-6~bpo70+2; jessie/non-free: 6.0.37-5; jessie-backports/non-free: 7.5.18-4~bpo8+1; stretch/non-free: 8.0.44-3; sid/non-free: 8.0.44-3
babilen 2017-03-06 23:04:02
tobiasBora: That would be the cuda dev libs, while you can get information on how to install drivers on https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers
tobiasBora 2017-03-06 23:04:11
babilen: Hum ok I was looking for cuda* package, forgot the nvidia...
tobiasBora 2017-03-06 23:05:07
If I'm using now my Intel card (optimus...), if I install nvidia driver will it switch all my system to the nvidia card ?
tobiasBora 2017-03-06 23:07:55
(What I'd like to know is a "headless" gpu config)
tw 2017-03-06 23:10:34
you can see if bumblebee fixes it. it's what games use to switch gpus. I don't know if there is a debian package.
afx_ 2017-03-06 23:11:36
bumblebee works for me
afx_ 2017-03-06 23:12:01
with nvdia 760MGT and intel hd4000
tobiasBora 2017-03-06 23:12:19
What is the difference between bumblebee and primus ?
tobiasBora 2017-03-06 23:13:18
nevermind
tobiasBora 2017-03-06 23:14:11
So I just need to install sudo apt-get install bumblebee-nvidia primus nvidia-cuda-dev, add myself to the bumblebee group, and I'll have a working CUDA ?
afx_ 2017-03-06 23:19:52
tobiasBora, for me it was this : https://paste.debian.net/918548/
afx_ 2017-03-06 23:20:18
someone here has to review that , as I am not a debian expert
afx_ 2017-03-06 23:20:47
but like I said this worked with the gpus mentioned before
afx_ 2017-03-06 23:20:59
Also I am using jessie 64

Hi,
iveqy 2017-03-06 23:29:22
I've written a startup script. http://pastebin.com/GNSqQrn1
iveqy 2017-03-06 23:30:15
running the script with /etc/init.d/ble start works fine but when I try to start it with serveice ble start nothing happens and journalctl -n20 only shows success.

hello all
andre144k 2017-03-06 23:39:54
how can i get informations about "memory" in used by programs+libs (withoud cache/buffers) ?
andre144k 2017-03-06 23:40:22
gnome is showing "7,8gb" in use - free says under "used" "80gb"
tobiasBora 2017-03-06 23:41:26
afx_: Ok thank you !
tobiasBora 2017-03-06 23:43:46
andre144k: Why don't you run a "du -d 1 /" on / folder, and sum all the weight of the folders you need ? (I think you can include nearly everything except the /var folder, but I'm not an expert)
andre144k 2017-03-06 23:44:13
i mean ram memory
