stoned: xhost local: ..... as the user who started X.
gftg 2017-03-02 07:46:00
stoned: Last time I used sxhot +, I used it as a regular user, then became root, then opening x was allowed.
stoned 2017-03-02 07:46:03
Oh
stoned 2017-03-02 07:46:12
I dont understand anything
stoned 2017-03-02 07:46:16
It's been so long.
Shadow_7 2017-03-02 07:46:44
Basically X sharing disabled by default these days
gftg 2017-03-02 07:46:52
stoned: As your regular user, run "xhost +"
gftg 2017-03-02 07:47:07
stoned: become root with, e.g.: "sudo su -"
stoned 2017-03-02 07:47:16
ok
gftg 2017-03-02 07:47:32
stoned: Then open the graphical program
gftg 2017-03-02 07:47:53
(At least, that's what I used to do)
Shadow_7 2017-03-02 07:49:07
You might have to set $DISPLAY depending on environment
gftg 2017-03-02 07:49:17
Indeed
Shadow_7 2017-03-02 07:50:45
Alternatively you can copy the ~/.Xauthority of the user who started X to ~/ of other users and chmod it. Plus DISPLAY and stuff for the save effect. If you don't trust xauth / xhost / and other routes.
Shadow_7 2017-03-02 07:51:03
s/save/same/
Shadow_7 2017-03-02 07:51:46
And then there's sharing with a chroot... what a mess that is now with systemd.
Shadow_7 2017-03-02 07:57:16
Oh yeah, and set $XAUTHORITY to the full path of said .Xauthority file. Used to not have to do that.
