georgia 2017-03-02 18:45:19

Shadow_7 2017-03-02 18:45:33

georgia 2017-03-02 18:46:04
I dont have asoundrc remember?
georgia 2017-03-02 18:46:15
anyway I'm trying to use mate's easier to confer sound htingy
georgia 2017-03-02 18:48:13
this is totally unfair. I miss mate now.
Shadow_7 2017-03-02 18:48:48
gnome2 was the chosen one long long ago
georgia 2017-03-02 18:50:46
well this makes more sense.
georgia 2017-03-02 18:51:18
okay, we can forget about the intel hda hdmi thing. my memory is triggered and mate never displayed it in its sound config things, but it still worked
georgia 2017-03-02 18:51:25
i have hope
Shadow_7 2017-03-02 18:52:06
georgia: you might need to manually start pulseaudio with autospawn=no enabled
georgia 2017-03-02 18:52:10
xfce is less sexy (if gnome 2 is sexy) but it has whisker menu, mime type editor, more configurable
georgia 2017-03-02 18:52:15
I disabled it remember
Shadow_7 2017-03-02 18:52:55
most pretty things use pulse though or try to. But they'll probably start it if you didn't
georgia 2017-03-02 18:53:48
FUCK YESSSS
georgia 2017-03-02 18:53:50
FRONT LEFT BITCHES
georgia 2017-03-02 18:54:06
FRONT RIGHT!!!!
georgia 2017-03-02 18:54:12
here's the config
georgia 2017-03-02 18:54:28
built in analog stereo is fallback
georgia 2017-03-02 18:54:35
port is speakers
georgia 2017-03-02 18:55:09
mixer set to analog stereo output
georgia 2017-03-02 18:55:48
basically, mate makes shit easier to configure.
georgia 2017-03-02 18:56:04
because of the aforementioned front left front right thingy
somiaj 2017-03-02 18:56:22
please keep down the excitement and focus mainly on support, also don't hit enter so often.
somiaj 2017-03-02 18:56:25
!enter
dpkg 2017-03-02 18:56:25
The enter key is not a substitute for punctuation. Hitting enter unnecessarily makes it difficult to follow what you are saying. Consider using ',', '. ', ';', '...', '---', or ':' instead. If you hit enter too often, you will be autokicked by debhelper for flooding the channel.
georgia 2017-03-02 18:56:55
Sorry. I got a little excited. I haven't had sound for 3 weeks.
georgia 2017-03-02 18:57:32
I'm going back to xfce4 now.
georgia 2017-03-02 19:00:09
when I logged into xfce it was preconfigured :)
georgia 2017-03-02 19:00:16
everything is fine now. thank you so much for your help. :)
georgia 2017-03-02 19:01:09
I purged mate. goodbye mate.
georgia 2017-03-02 19:02:40
a minor new problem with notification theme. I'll try and fix it
georgia 2017-03-02 19:05:22
only one theme is working...
georgia 2017-03-02 19:05:28
and it might be a mate theme
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:06:22
can anyone help explain to me how to change resolution
georgia 2017-03-02 19:06:43
of your desktop? you technically can't
georgia 2017-03-02 19:07:00
but I know what you mean
georgia 2017-03-02 19:07:10
what DE are you using?
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:07:19
i'm using xfce
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:07:22
sorry lxde
georgia 2017-03-02 19:07:34
oh, do you have an application called "display"?
georgia 2017-03-02 19:07:49
xfce is amazing
georgia 2017-03-02 19:08:02
I highly recommend it.
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:09:07
no display command
georgia 2017-03-02 19:09:17
I'm talking about an application
dooom 2017-03-02 19:10:20
apt install lxrandr - then Preferences > Monitor Settings . Source: google
georgia 2017-03-02 19:10:24
do your have lxrandr?
georgia 2017-03-02 19:10:30
haha, I googled it too
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:10:58
the max settings is goes to is 1024x768
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:11:12
but i'm pretty sure it goes higher
georgia 2017-03-02 19:11:12
I don't know much about lxde. It's pretty bare bones on its own. anyway askubuntu comes in handy
georgia 2017-03-02 19:11:43
http://www.whatismyscreenresolution.com/
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:12:39
looks like my drivers are loading
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:13:43
it says 512x384 there
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:13:43
but lxrandr says 1024
georgia 2017-03-02 19:13:59
it might mean a 10:24 ratio?
georgia 2017-03-02 19:14:08
nah, that wouldn't work
georgia 2017-03-02 19:14:15
weird.
georgia 2017-03-02 19:14:30
how big is your computer?
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:14:43
its a dell laptop/netbook
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:14:47
small display but
georgia 2017-03-02 19:14:52
does the physical screen look more squarish or rectanglish?
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:15:07
all the text is oversized
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:15:15
its a rectangle
georgia 2017-03-02 19:15:29
since it's openbox, maybe the site got confused. try changing the window size
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:16:33
Screen 0: minimum 1024 x 768, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 768
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:16:39
thats the output of xrandr
georgia 2017-03-02 19:17:05
try xdpyinfo | grep 'dimensions'
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:17:32
dimensions: 1024x768 pixels (220x120 millimeters)
georgia 2017-03-02 19:18:00
well then forget the website. it's probably an openbox thing
georgia 2017-03-02 19:18:17
you want to make your resolution higher?
georgia 2017-03-02 19:18:41
gnu/linux is pretty stiff when it comes to resolution choices
georgia 2017-03-02 19:18:59
I think 1024x768 is your limit
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:19:33
dang
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:19:55
if i didn't have to change firefox's text size it would be useable
georgia 2017-03-02 19:20:35
explain?
georgia 2017-03-02 19:21:46
you can give firefox a default zoom
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:21:48
the text is just too large for this resultion
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:21:57
can i set that systsem wide
foodSurprise 2017-03-02 19:22:01
or is that a WM thing
georgia 2017-03-02 19:22:39
go to panel settings
georgia 2017-03-02 19:22:51
I think you can change text size
georgia 2017-03-02 19:23:31
do you have some sort of system settings application? system preferences?
TonyStark 2017-03-02 19:25:48
Good morning. I am trying to build Ulteo from sources. I found file "Upbuilder.yml". What does use that file?
georgia 2017-03-02 19:26:41
https://code.ulteo.com/projects/PUB/repos/xrdp/browse/packaging/upbuilder.yml
georgia 2017-03-02 19:27:39
you can definitely change firefox font size. under preferences > content > fonts and colors
georgia 2017-03-02 19:35:09
good night everyone
Teststst 2017-03-02 19:44:08
I wish to add a debian iso that is mounted on a usb to my sources list but I find this complicated. I have tried with the command add-cdrom add -d /dev/sdb but it just tells me to mount the cd. I think if I mount the usb as a cdrom it will work. How can I do this? Or if you have another option how to solve this is just as fine.
