I just upgraded from Debian 7 to 8. And after upgrade syslog-ng stopped working. It appears that the syslog-ng 3.3 configuration format is incompatible with syslog-ng 3.5. However, this is not mentioned in the release notes/upgrade guidelines. Maybe this should be added?

this may not be the right place to ask but I feel like I should give it a shot anyway. I had an ext (2, 3 or 4, can't remember for sure) partition which I accidentally ran mkfs.ext4 on. is there any chance that I can recover the original file tree?

kqr, Start by taking a complete image of the drive using dd or similar.
